Has anyone noticed a hum lately or some RF issues with the Hornertown site ? Or any other sites ?
Are you using a scanner or are you an actual user of the system? If you were an actual user you would not be asking here, you would be talking to your radio shop. What you hear on a scanner is not indicative of what is heard on an APX.

Unication could indicate possible issue with the site but until users on the system report something no real way to know.

Has anyone noticed any signal degradation since the Jackson district went TDMA? It's probably just me, and maybe my SDS200, but I can barely get one or two bars (RSSI) whereas before I'd get full bars most of the time. I thought at first the weather was the culprit, but it doesn't seem to matter.

What type of antenna are you using ?
On my SDS200 (and my BCD996P2) I'm using a Diamond discone antenna outside mounted on my wood fence. It's not very high, about nine feet or so. My BCD436HP is using the famous RatShack 800 mhz BNC antenna.

Are either antennas mounted to a metal structure that’s grounded ? That’s probably some of your issue.

I'm using an eight gauge copper wire from the base of the antenna to a copper rod four feet in the ground. The copper wire is about 8 or 9 feet long. I don't have any problems receiving other stations/systems, just TACN. I haven't heard any complaints (more than normal) from those in the field, so it really makes me think it's probably my equipment. Thanks for the suggestions.

On my SDS200, it now shows "P25P2 Slot1(or 2)". It just changed over a few days ago. Of course Alan would know, but he stays so busy, I didn't want to bother him.

I changed the Memphis Dispatch 1 to TDMA Monday a week ago, and the Jackson Dispatch 1 this last Monday morning. Starting after New Years I'll work on converting the remaining 6 Districts Dispatch 1's to TDMA. We did not change the power output at the towers, just changed the talk group over to TDMA. We're trying to make better use of our site capacity. Not sure what's going on with the receive level at your qth. There are still some FDMA talk groups on the Jackson site. You might try listening for them and looking at your signal level.
I checked my BCD-325P2 tonight in the house, monitoring Gleason, and it's receiving with about the same signal level that it has in the past.

Thank you for clearing that up. I'm sure it's my equipment, location or conditions. I'm afraid I might've gotten a lightning pop the last time we had a thunderstorm.

Knox Simulcast question (site 003-010). At first, my understanding was that the KX Simulcast system was typically only allowing KX users, as well as TEMA, THP, and TDOT users. In the last month or so, I've seen a good amount of Blount Co SO, Alcoa FD, and Maryville FD traffic present on Kx Simulcast.

Has something changed on the KX Simulcast side that allows more traffic to routinely affiliate?

Yes, they made changes to the provisioning and TDOSHS reorganized some of the THP/TWRA RIDs at the same time. Most of the changes took effect on or around November 1st.

I'm only guessing but with Blount County's looming upgrade to APX equipment next summer, this may have been in preparation for the transition to TDMA.
