Exactly. $15 ain't squat in today's money. It barely covers half a tank of gas, let alone a "steak dinner". Maybe at a Waffle House.No VEC group is making money off the $15 testing fee. It barely covers the costs of obtaining the testing materials for each session and postage for mailing the certified results.
How many times has those who complain and whine volunteered to give exams, or anything related to enjoyment of ham radio on behalf of others? It's interesting how some folks have no problem enjoying free use of repeaters, repeater networks, et al yet they refuse to contribute a dime. Funny how they go guano crazy at the thought of ASKING someone to donate SOMETHING to offset the costs incurred.
