• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Can one of the Beta testers ask them if they could change the way priority scan works? It needs to work more like a radio where you can set priority one and an optional priority 2. Something like that. This current way is awful and I think most people would agree.

At what point, would one priority override another?

I wouldn't get too carried away with asking for fantastic features. At this point in time, I'm just happy that Unication is working on bringing about, scanner like features to the G's.

After the new firmware is released, and used by all of us, then, I think, would be a good time to evaluate and suggest other features, IMHO.

Aaaand, there are others of us that are sure hopeful that features like TG hold, TG temp. delete, UID tagging, etc. are implemented.

If they are gonna do it, do it right. We are going to be paying for it.

Stacked paging is when multiple tone sets are sent out, one after the other. For example if there are multiple fire companies, districts, or towns being dispatched on the same call. Tone set 1, tone set 2, tone set 3, then voice dispatch.

I had read in another group, the "New platform" options would be paid upgrades.

Regardless, here is what is going to be done, seems great from what is posted. (What is blacklist / whitelist?) Why, oh why, isn't there a plan to allow us to tag UID's?

Any time frame on an actual release of this? I just got a G4 and would love to try this out.
If Unication has learned anything from watching this site, they've learned to not release, announce a release or anything close to that until it's 100% their decision to do so. I will point to the x36 series of Uniden products which were released without all features that were announced in the release promotion and the TRX-100/200 which were announced but never produced. Both indicate a huge pitfall that bending to consumer demand/pressure can cause. We have a saying in work; you can do it fast or you can do it right, but rarely can you do both. we know it's in Alpha, let's give them the time to get it right before releasing to Beta.
