Wow 🤩 3 things, please;

(1) - I already have GPS setup snd working fine on my 200. Can this be obtained without GPS?

We haven't priced out the remote head without the GPS, but we can possible disable the internal GPS with a software fix. I will add this to our to do list.

(2) - I live in an area where it is hot 🥵 about 3/4 of the year. Is there an ETA on when a stronger, or more resilient unit against heat, will become available?

I don't have an ETA yet, but we're looking into a metal case being custom made for us.

(3) - I see above the color settings aren’t transferring over. Is there another way we can set the color settings to our preferance?

Right now its using a default set of colors. The goal is to have it read the file from the scanner to display what the scanner is using.

So glad to see this, I was pondering what to remove in my work truck, to accommodate an NX-5700, if this unit will become available where it can fit my needs, I am going to hold off on installation, as this will absolutely free up some very crowded real estate.

Thank you to those who are involved in the development and distribution process of this.

Ok, 4 things…. I understand it uses the programming port? If so, can it use the rear port, or does it need to be front only?

Or am I completely off base here?

For the SDS 200 right now it uses the front port only.

Hopefully it can be able to show UID's also.

Would spend more for it to mimic the complete display of the SDS series. Would also be interested in a seperate keypad that doesn't transpose.

Good things coming down the pike! Wish Uniden still supported the SDS series, glad to see others coming up with these things!

It does mimic the entire display, unit IDs and whatever else. All but matching colors. Non transposable keypad would require a larger display or much smaller text so it's a compromise.

Here is the link to a wireless keyboard. I use one very similar to this one with my test device. This makes it easier to operate.

Here's the latest update.

Below is a list of recommended cables and equipment we used for this device, including the Uniden scanners. Links are provided to ensure compatibility.

Ugh.... All the same colors? I have all mine with different colors to instantly distinguish what I am making a quick glance at.

If one is ultimately developed that will allow the user to select the different colors as desired, I'm on it.

I received my remote head yesterday and it’s working great. Can you expand on the functionality of all the other receptacles , such as the ones on the top of the unit? One of them looks like an 1/8 audio. The Ethernet port is for programming the raspberry pi I would assume. Just curious.

Thanks for a great product!

Glad you like it! At this point, the only ports required are any of the USB ports on the side of the device, and the USB C port for providing power on the top of the Raspberry Pi. We are planning to add additional functionality to the software incluing using the 3/8 audio output jack on the top of the device as well as the RJ45 (ethernet) port on the device. You can use the RJ45 jack now to make a network connection to the device for access to program the device using one of the numerous linux tools. It also has builtin wireless for that connectivity and bluetooth as well. In an ideal world, the device would only require 1 cable, that is to provide mower to the device. The options are really limitless, all just takes development time and testing. All of which are in the planning stages right now.

2 questions.
1) I saw where ya'll were working on a case that better stands up to higher heat. South Texas has about 6 months of summer, so that's a major requirement. What's the timeline on that?
2) Is everything else just software / firmware updates after that? It sounds like ya'll are still working to add features. Is there a mailing list for beta testing, or how are you planning on handling that? Website doesn't have all the information, and I understand that this concept is constantly changing on several fronts right now.

Honestly, that's the only 2 things holding up a purchase right now.

We don't have a specific time-frame regarding the custom metal case. We're hoping to have a new case shortly.

Yes, it will be for the most part software updates, and if necessary firmware updates for the Pi and components. The website hosting company is working on those solutions in for the digital downloads. We have many ideas on additional feaures, the end result will be a single wire for power only, with all of the functionality you'd expect, i.e. wireless, Bluetooth with many audio options and with any luck extensive logging functionality. We're looking at adding an additional developer to help us implement the changes to the software, and a mechanism for deployment. It's mainly an issue of time. This is not our full time job, nor do we think that it will replace them, just something we thought would be beneficial to the scanning community.

Honestly, that's the only 2 things holding up a purchase right now.

The display works fine with my SDS 200 and it’s solving the issue of trying to mount the scanner in my vehicle. I am having an issue with the GPS, it has only worked sporadically and now it appears to have stopped completely. I was sitting at a location 24 hours ago and the systems for that area were scanning properly. When I left, it never updated as I traveled approximately 15 miles and it stayed on the systems that I was receiving when I was parked. This morning when I fired everything up, I was still receiving those same systems as yesterday with no updating. So far today, it has still not updated even when I traveled another 20 miles in the opposite direction from where I was at yesterday, still getting the same systems as yesterday. Both the scanner and the remote screens are showing that the GPS is enabled, but still no updating. Location settings in the scanner are correct as far as lat/longs and range settings are concerned and Favorite Lists have Location information set to “On”. Up until 24 hours ago, it would update but usually required either turning off or power recycling one or both of the items. The remote head was done by using the shutdown command prior to turning the power off.

I’ve also tried my 436 with the remote head but I only get between 5-30 seconds of display before the screen goes black and the scanner goes back to the Mass Storage/Serial screen and everything repeats itself over and over again, get a few seconds of display and then the black screen again and and the Mass Storage / Serial screen again.

I realize that this is a work in progress and I’m probably just experiencing bugs in the operation of the thing, It does solve my mounting issues and that was my main concern.

Maybe they can get Jonathan aboard with them?
