And you can toggle visibility of the keyboard by tapping the 'keyboard button' along the top edge. I did find out that the keyboard is still active even when you can't see it in case you get a surprise.

I didn't know that. Looks much better without the keypad. Thanks.

Maybe they can get Jonathan aboard with them?

Best Idea yet!! Not that I doubt the abilities of the guys who are doing this, but Jon has done so many awesome things with the SDS series radios, that would be a slam - dunk!

The display works fine with my SDS 200 and it’s solving the issue of trying to mount the scanner in my vehicle. I am having an issue with the GPS, it has only worked sporadically and now it appears to have stopped completely. I was sitting at a location 24 hours ago and the systems for that area were scanning properly. When I left, it never updated as I traveled approximately 15 miles and it stayed on the systems that I was receiving when I was parked. This morning when I fired everything up, I was still receiving those same systems as yesterday with no updating. So far today, it has still not updated even when I traveled another 20 miles in the opposite direction from where I was at yesterday, still getting the same systems as yesterday. Both the scanner and the remote screens are showing that the GPS is enabled, but still no updating. Location settings in the scanner are correct as far as lat/longs and range settings are concerned and Favorite Lists have Location information set to “On”. Up until 24 hours ago, it would update but usually required either turning off or power recycling one or both of the items. The remote head was done by using the shutdown command prior to turning the power off.

I’ve also tried my 436 with the remote head but I only get between 5-30 seconds of display before the screen goes black and the scanner goes back to the Mass Storage/Serial screen and everything repeats itself over and over again, get a few seconds of display and then the black screen again and and the Mass Storage / Serial screen again.

I realize that this is a work in progress and I’m probably just experiencing bugs in the operation of the thing, It does solve my mounting issues and that was my main concern.
Not sure if you are the one that reached out to us already but I have a new version that seems to hopefully have fixed the gps. I tested it on a road trip from south Carolina to Kansas and it was spot on.

We will contact you guys who have already received them to get you the updates.

Here in Europe the SDS200E/100E also works great after a small software adjustment for the SDS type E.
The team did an excellent job getting this to work!
Excellent! I was wondering how it went. Do you happen to have an European 436 or 536 as well?

Ugh.... All the same colors? I have all mine with different colors to instantly distinguish what I am making a quick glance at.

If one is ultimately developed that will allow the user to select the different colors as desired, I'm on it.

Were working on the code upgrades to read the file from the scanner which will mimic the display.

To clarify, it will can't completely match a radio's custom color layout because the software used to write the text does not allow for individual character color/font/underline etc... character control, even if it did read the color layout file. Each line is written as one data field and then it progresses to the next. It would require each line to be further sub-divided into the respective data fields to achive that. It's not impossible but requires a major change in the way the entire thing operates.

The idea is to have a functional (touch control), accurate and as reasonably close to the original display as possible but some things are more difficult with the tools used at this time.
