Uniden Remote Head Project

Whenever y'all get it where it can either read the display colors, or we can program our own, I will jump right in!

The default yellow and orange is definitely not for me.

Does it read what is user programmed on the display, though? As in, where the Talkgroup is, where the UID is, where the GPS readout is, etc?

I was able to get the mini wireless keyboard to work with the Remote Head. There is a small receiver that you insert into one of the USB ports. It's plug-and-play. The touch-pad is what gives you the ability to navigate the screen and make selections.

My Remote Head unit has the initial firmware and there has been an update. Unfortunately, the update is not as simple as downloading a file. From what I gather, they have to do a remote update which you will have to coordinate with them. I rather they just notify me of the update and allow me to download the file so I can do it myself.

The Touch-Scanner website is really lacking any useful information. What is the latest firmware and changes? How to update firmware, wireless keyboards capability, and its functions? Scanner capability? What updates can we expect in the near future?

For the cost of this device, this information should be readily available.

You cannot make color changes, but there is talk that it might be available in the future.

I like that it works with the 436HP and seeing it in color is pretty darn cool.

I was hoping that the 536HP USB wifi port would have had enough power to run the Touch-Scanner but that was not the case. I'm sure
there is a USB power source that can be retrofitted inside the 536HP.

My remote display is working great.

Big shout out to ra7850 for the super tech support that he offered me. After a cable snafu (user mistake!!) and a phone call or two on a Sunday no less, my unit is working as intended. And finally I have a head that I can read the display, control the volume, etc. Finally!!! Robert was able to do an update to my firmware on the head and give me the latest and greatest. Amazing what you can do over the internet. The biggest part was this was on a Sunday. Who offers tech support on a Sunday?????

Thanks again to ra7850 and Mancow for their hard work and ability to see the project through to a real product. Having watched this thread from the beginning...my hope that something would become available was finally realized.

We are working on a document that will teach the user how to do the updates. It includes 2 pieces of software that have to be downloaded to perform the updates. Many users are not familiar enough to do the update that is why we do them remotely. I can help you get the latest update installed. Your device is unique based on your location. There haven't been any additional changes added since the work was done to fix the issues you had with with the European model of the scanner. We can work with you to get it upgraded remotely once a new upgrade is released. S simple solution to have the user do the upgrade hasn't been implemented yet. Many users aren't familiar enough with the OS, and or it's upgrade methods. I'm sure that the version info can be added somewhere so you can see the current version. I'll talk with mancow today to see if we can get that implemented in the next release.

We still havent found an implementation from metal. We diod make changes to the eixsting case that makes it more solid. We're exploring a company that makes pool equipment. The material they use, can take extreme heat. I dont have the timeframe yet for that but it does look promising.

Latest Update on the Remote Touch Scanner

Just another quick update. mancow believes the latest image that he created will be the final image, he has incorporated a few fixes. Now, both the Uniden 436, and Uniden 536 scanners work as well. I hope to add additional images to the website later. We're exploring adding a few of the other Uniden models to the compatibility list.

Sorry, it has been a busy summer here for me and Casey has always been extremely busy. We're finally through the list of people that expressed an interest initially, and for those who have, they have been sent the PayPal link to purchase the device.

We have a few ideas on the horizon for updates but honestly we've heard only minimal issues from our customers, all of which were quickly resolved.

What's new now?

We've made a change to the case, the new case has rounded corners which has increased the strength of the case. There are many more options planned for future upgrades. I'm actively seeking a developer to join the project as well.
