I'm relatively new here, and without clout to make a suggestion, but considering the pertinent information is already out there, and people are aware of the situation, there does not seem to be anything further positive to be gained by continuing this thread.

I got a refund and he said he can't get the GPS units any longer. USPS tracking says mine is on the way
That's sad. Jon's internal GPS units were an tremendous addition to the SDS100. While I do have a 200, I still use the 100 when I'm out of the car. It works amazingly well.

It is disappointing. I sent it to him last May hoping to have it for a trip in November. But it is what it is.

I probably got 1 of his last GPS units for the SDS200, the 1st one he sent me did not work so I sent it back, then he was waiting on parts. Finally after close to 4 months, he sent me a working unit around October, and it works great. I also got his antenna adapter when I originally placed my order for my Unication G4 so I could use my RS 800mhz antenna on occasion when I am at home, it is a nice adapter. Took a little nudging to get the GPS.

It sounds like the GPS upgrade is a no go at this time! But has anyone gotten any of the other accessories Jon offers the past few months like the sds100 battery door clip?
I think Uniden should send one battery door latch free of charge to all registered sds100 owners, it was a design flaw when it breaks at the parting line!

I took a chance a few weeks after the first of the year and ordered the sma/bnc adapter that he sells - it's only $10, so I thought "what the heck?". Happy to report that I got it a week or so later and am very pleased with it. Having just gotten my sds100 a few days before Christmas, I sure wish I'd had the opportunity to have the internet GPS mod done.. Went on a cross country trip a few weeks ago and it sure would have been nice to have!

Not that I have the cold solder joint issue, but hopefully he'll still be able to do that repair.

Wish a "drop-in" charger would be made for the SDS100. Shouldn't be hard to do, run the charging wires from the mini-USB connections to somewhere near the bottom of the scanner, and have contacts that go to a charger.

I'm trying to find Jon's page where he has things like the scanner stand, etc. for sale. I skipped thru this thread, and also lightly skipped thru the Classifieds, and I didn't spot it. I can add this to our Accessories FAQ, and I will (sadly) remove the internal GPS link to this thread.

Thanks...Mike

I sent my HomePatrol II and SDS100 to Jon in June of 2021. After months of NO response to status update requests, last week I received a refund through Paypal along with a note that due to the unavailability of GPS modules, he was returning the scanners.

The scanners arrived today in the same condition as I sent them, along with a pair of his stands.

So, I have been made whole.

I hope in the future Jon will resume his modification service, as the internal GPS makes the HomePatrol II the ULTIMATE road trip scanner.

I sent my SDS100 to him in September for a cold solder repair. I have sent several emails and called twice with no responses.
