I have a crack in the plastic knob, and I am looking to replace it. Uniden outright refuses to sell me one separately without sending in the radio, that is ridiculous considering its been there 2 times in the last 4 months with one time being their fault! I've searched the internet and have had no success, was hoping someone else found a place selling them. Thanks!

That’s a ridiculous stance on Uniden’s part. I have ordered complete (front, 1back, display) parts for the BCD436HP without issue. And certainly without sending the radio back in. Perhaps it’s a condition of the warrenty if it’s still current. But it shouldn’t be. Uniden Parts 1-800-620-7531

Spoke to them 2 times, they are taking a hard stance on this. They claim they only have enough to support repairs and not sell them individually.

Looks like you have your answer. So they can’t supply you with a replacement knob unless you spend the flat repair fee (and an extra $10 for shipping!). That’s a pretty hefty price for a 5 cent knob! I will look around for a knob on my many portable radios I have collecting dust. If I find one that works I will gladly give it to you. I will check this morning and get back to you here...

Sorry, found nothing that fits. Suggest using a gorilla glue or take the 3D offer...

When I first handled my new SDS100, the first thing that came to mind was the "quality" of that plastic knob. It really took away from the rest of this very well made scanner. Those knobs cost 10 cents at the most.

I'm sure Uniden knows about this issue, and for the price of a SDS100 they could send buyers a new one when they know will, in the end, break. JMHO. Greg

My SDS100 knob broke less than 3 weeks in and I had it repaired under warranty. It's a quality issue with it for sure... or design problem.

This isnt the whole brass piece that is broken, just the flimsy plastic. The radio has already been to Uniden for a volume/squelch knob mechanism failure as they so kindly called it.

Some of the wobble is play in the rotary encoder shaft bearings.

What do y'all think of this?

You should print some knobs up for the smaller knob used on the old BC780XLT models! People are always looking for that one.
I think I've seen eBay users wanting ridiculous prices for a 780XLT volume/power knob. Like $30 dollars.

Maybe someone has a sample they could send you if there is still any demand for the 780 knob.

This SDS100 knob looks good!

I don't need a sample, if someone can email/PM me detailed dimensions. Preferably in millimeters, since Uniden does everything in metric.
