Too funny. For that price one would be better off going with a relm or unication.

Ok, weird. I have no idea what VR4 is. You realigned the receiver's IF stage transformers?
Open the case on the 96. You will find 3 tiny adjustment pot screws labeled with VR numbers. These are used to fine tune the IF and there is an thread and wiki listing regards this adjustment.

Hmmm... I did not know this. I had a Pro-96 for ten years, until I sold it last year at a hamfest for $100. It could not trunk 700 MHz frequencies so I got rid of it. It was a great scanner, otherwise.

Any updates on this exciting turn of events. Looking forward to seeing uniden back in the saddle being capable of trunktracking modern P25 Simulcast site. /s
