I may not be enjoying anything .. as my shipment is being 'returned to shipper'.

It is turning into a nightmare just to buy a simple scanner .. between the dealers that will not ship here and other issues, it is a mess.

My only option now .. looks like Scannermaster. I don't want to do it cause they are the highest priced dealer, which will push my cost up to near $800.
In addition to the exchange there are other costs .. such as shipping (unlike you guys we never get free shipping on scanners) and Canadian GST tax and maybe brokerage costs.

You guys in the US are very very lucky that you can just order from anyone without the hassle. It is tough as there are no Whistler dealers here for scanners, something I hope Whistler will someday resolve.

Amazon won't deliver to Canada?.
I note the seller on Amazon right now wants $850, which is crazy, but earlier this week a seller had them for $528 (US).

Yes .. they will but they are seldom the best deal when shipping here.

I have an email into ScannerMaster to see if they will price match.

But right now .. Ebay is actually looking like my best option.

But I am waiting also to hear why my package from ZipScanners was returned. I expect that it will cost me money on that one as it is .. even though I will not likely see a scanner from them.

You're right about shipping to Canada. I've had one ounce letters sent to Canada from the U.S. returned for various reasons -- and not for insufficient postage either!

If any Canadians have actually received a 1095 .. I would be interested hearing from them. But for now .. I am hopeful my order will eventually ship and it is just a simple issue.

I saw that same ad in Amazon. $850 which is crazy. I will wait a year just to see how this scanner turns out and avoid this rush.

Waiting for my reward points to show up on my credit card, which I expect to just about cover the cost of a 1095 because of another large unrelated purchase recently made and then will proceed with an order thru Amazon.

I will wait for the seller to either be Amazon or one of the reliable vendors I have experience with first.

The $850 seller can keep his until it has moss growing on it. Obviously just a vulcher.

I saw that ad for $850.00 on Amazon as well. I thought it was nuts considering I saw one on Fleabay for $492.00+ free shipping!

Was it brand new out of the box?
Is there some way to enhance a 1095 to make it worth twice as much as new?
The item said it was new, but unless they were going to send two for that price it was a stupid listing. Sure hope nobody falls for it.

That would make it $425 per unit which sounds good but it is advertised as one unit. Maybe it is enhanced like the ones advertised on here? Still way way overpriced.

Maybe it has that super secret vaporware which no one has ever seen, but the author claims it will receive any digital/conventional mode known to man :)

Must be for that price.
I see it's not there any more and a reputable vendor is now offering at $519 in its place. A little closer to the mark.

Perhaps the $800 version does DMR and NXDN trunking. Then they would move pretty quickly. But the $800 is obviously outrageous (at least for the US market) and hard to believe anyone would pay that price. When you start getting into these high-end scanners, doubt that there are many people with no real knowledge of scanning who are purchasing them.
On another note. Does anyone know why there has been no third-party software like Butel or others for this particular groups of scanners (PSR-800, WS1080, RS-668, and now the WS1095). My own scanning (and I'm sure some others) involves scanning without listening. In other words, I often will run two or 3 scanners with virtual control/logging just looking for rare channels/TGs, new P25 Phase 2, etc.
Not being able to log for long periods with the group of scanners (unless I am missing something) is a feature I really miss. Has anyone ever come across such software for these scanners?

Pro96Com and UniTrunker work with the series of radios for P25 trunked systems. Trunk88 works for Motorola analog trunking. Just no conventional logging that I know of. There is no released protocol for control, just the data format for the output from the PC/IF. If you use a Hyperterm software connected to the port with the PC/IF, you will see the output from the supported system types, EDACS, Motorola, P25, and LTR.

Back when the PSR-800 was released with EZScan, the topic of the limitations of copy/paste/export was heavily discussed on RadioReference. The reason for not having those features was explained by Don Starr and Mike Vander Veer as a restriction imposed by GRE to disallow such functions in order to protect some proprietary featues of the scanner. Further, GRE did not want 3rd parties to have access to the scanner codes to allow competition in operating software. Further prodding for a better answer never resulted in a deeper answer.

Not allowing copy/paste features somehow protects 'proprietary features' of the scanner? LOL that is BS if I ever heard it.
