Be able to mount the main unit else where hidden , or in cooler spot and just have the display up front in a car, or truck for cleaner install.
Thanks. So no advantage if you use it just as a base?

As a base no advantage. That why considering a 536hp, so long it they fix the sensitivity and SD issues. I think they did as my newer 436hp doesn't have those issues and preform well.

...and P25 patch following.

Another issue I noticed I wish they would resolve is If holding on a trunked system where you cannot receive a control channel, 436HP does not notify that it is “searching for control channel”. It looks like it is scanning and receiving the control channel.

So very excited by this .. and here in Canada I expect this thing to be very near a final price of $650-700. But I will pay it all day long as this will be a great scanner.

After thinking about it, don't need GPS, as just going to use as a base unit. Looks like I be just wait for this one, as a base unit, instead of risking having to return another 536hp. My only concern with the ws-1095 is using a outdoor antenna and wondering if they change the design of the frontend, or will it overload easy?

It probably will overload easily with too much antenna applied to it. It looks like the same radio as a PSR-800. However, that is a very sensitive radio not requiring a lot of antenna.

It depends on your location and RF environment. Someone out in the boonies could get great performance on it from an outdoor antenna where someone in a metro area would probably just creating problems for themselves.

I expect the radio to hit the streets at over $400 but likely end up around the $400 mark with the WS1080 within a few months. I'll pay it. Enjoy having someone other than Uniden in my inventory. If they do OK we might see them enhance these models with some of the things people have commented on in the future.

If it was around the $400 range will buy it. More likely outdoor antenna would cause to many issues, was needed for the 536hp, whip antenna more likely get the job done for ws1095 scanner, as the ws1080 does great already.

So to you or any others, is it confirmed there is no GPS? If so then disregard an earlier comment I made in this thread. I figured the 1095, like the 1080, would support it. I went through the user manual and see no mention of it.

I wish someone had corrected me earlier about it lacking GPS capability. I had been under the assumption it did because I saw GPS accessories listed on a website or two.

I think it was that website ZipScanners that specifically said it supported it.

The only GPS ready receivers on the market currently to my knowledge are all Uniden and are:

- The x36 HP radios.
- The x96xt radios
- The HP-1 and HP-2

I live a long ways from the boonies in Oceanside CA. I have my WS-1080 hooked to a mobile antenna on my roof. I have no overloading issues. I hear simplex marine traffic out around San Clemente and Catalina islands. When the conditions are right, I can hear the DFW repeaters on Oat Mtn. north of LA and Sisar Pk. up in Ventura county. I also hear Calfire and USFS units that are way out in the boonies. No overloading here.
