Hi mates, I live in St. George, UT and noticed the 800mhz trunk system has gone dark here. In the past I was able to access most of the LE traffic on my cheap Quansheng K5 radios on 800mhz which was great =) Anyway, I pulled out my SDS100 and had to manually program the new 700mhz simulcast frequencies and TG's (ie. DEC) into the SDS100 following this guide below and it appears that I now get the P25 phase II LE traffic here in St. George and Cedar on the SDS100 which is good. So, it doesn't look like they've switched to full encryption yet, which is good and hope it stays that way =) Anyway, for what it's worth this worked for me. To get up and monitoring w/ the new P25 Phase II switch over.

Can someone please listen to my feed
and look at the attached zip file that has a freescan file in it and let me know if I'm doing something wrong. I've download from the RR database then upload to my scanner and it's a hit and miss if it picks up traffic and when it does it just sounds terrible. I'm using a BCDP325P2. I've listened to a few other online feeds for Utah that have switched to 700 and theirs sound pretty decent.

Are the 800 MHz control channels still "turned-on, or have they been shut down?

And for anybody not following along...
  • Davis County will start switching over tomorrow (11/12)
  • Utah and Juab counties will switch the week of the 18th
  • There will be a break for the holiday
  • Salt Lake and any remaining agencies are scheduled to start switching over December 2nd

throughout the day u will hear radio testing on vhf and 800, then u will know, that they are trying to key up 700 too... I would just start listening around 7 or 8. 10 on is when u hopefully will hear it patched with 800 depending on how things go...

My bet is that almost all LE will be encrypted along the Wasatch Front.
I agree, however Box Elder still simulcasts on 155.595Mhz so as long as that's a thing here, encryption will be a no-go for BE.

Maybe those here who get hit by full-time encryption should petition their local law enforcement agencies to provide an official, delayed feed via Broadcastify!

It worked in the Portland Metro area in Oregon, and instead of losing ALL LE radio comms, both Washington and Clackamas counties now have feeds that cover most agencies. Granted, WashCo has a tendency to cut their feed for critical incidents, but it's better than nothing.

So it’s looking like the official switching will be happening by the end of August or during September. To the phase II P25 system. Making anything older than 2019 unable to listen. The swi will be shifting the channels from 800Mhz to 700Mhz which is active now.
Watch KSL channel 5 news tonight at 10PM. I watched their preview & they will report which cities are going to be encrypted.
