Viper Radio IDs can be found in the RR Wiki, it shows that is McDowell Co.

The statewide event groups are always running on my scanners. Stuff randomly pops up. Even in the middle of the night. I turn them down at night when I go to bed, but I leave them on recording mode. Sometimes I have interesting things to listen to the next morning. Thank you for heads up.

Despite statewide fire ban, a 160 acre wildfire is burning in Burke Co, with multiple fire aircraft in the air and crews on the ground. The fire is only 50% contained as of 5pm.

Operations are on VIPER Statewide Event Foxtrot 4, TG 51978.

Yes SHP traffic control is using Viper SW India 1. I wasn't aware of what event this was for and didn't post but it is the NASCAR Returns to THE ROCK, Rockingham (NC) Speedway on Easter Weekend, April 18-19. 2025

New Iredell County Info:

The current Mooresville Site was switched today by Viper Techs to RFSS 4 Site DEC 29 HEX 1D. This is for the new Viper simulcast being built in Iredell County. I already submitted the info to the database admin team.

New sites coming online soon as follows:

1. Southeast Mooresville off Coddle Creek Highway (Hwy 3)
2. Cool Springs Fire Station 2 on Highway 64,
3. City of Statesville on the ECOM Tower off Bristol Drive
4. Harmony Fire Department Station 2 in Olin
5. West Statesville off Interstate 40 at Stamey Farm Road (Site just approved and not built yet)

Current Sites Already on the air:

1. Mooresville Highway 150 at Highway 21 in the Mooresville Water Plant.
2. Barium Springs (Troutman)
3. Fox Mountain in Love Valley.

Once completed later this year, Iredell County will be one the few counties that built out a simulcast systems on Viper. Others include, Gaston County, Davidson County, and Chatham County.

While the zone and site number did change, this is just a realignment of sites to the zone 4 controller, not part of the Iredell simulcast project.

Okay, a county rep said it had a to do with the simulcast project when we spoke this afternoon. Lots of changes happening, thanks for the confirmation Trumpetman.

The HIGHPEAK site in Burke County is currently offline due to equipment failure. They are working on getting it up today or tomorrow

Terrific. More simulcast. I setup a Home Patrol 2 in the car with GPS for Viper and BRP rangers. Knowing there was already a few simulcast, but none that affected me. It is easier to read the HP2 display than the SDS100. Apperently I will need to go back to the SDS100 at some point.

There may have been scattered posts about this, but is going to simulcast being planned for most or all of Viper besides the planned P25 Phase 2? The HP2 can handle simulcast fairly well, but of course very location dependent.

To my knowledge there are two simulcast build outs currently with two more possible ones being discussed. The majority of VIPER should remain individual ASRs; simulcast cells only come into play when counties want to fund increased capacity and/or coverage.
