Appears to be a multi-agency training exercise including Guilford County, General Assembly Police, and others on VIPER Statewide Event TG HOTEL 2 (51984). Exercise includes chemical agents, IADs, and injured persons.

Meanwhile Cary PD is using VIPER Statewide Event TG GOLF 1 (51979) for speed enforcement activities.

Busy day on Statewide Event Channels today, enjoy monitoring the traffic there, today on various TGs DEA, FBI and water rescue training among others. Last night App State PD and Watauga PD/SO for football game. Tomorrow it will be the State Fair traffic, operations and internal public safety.

Heard a new TG the other day, TG #52358 on the WSSU tower. I was unable to catch any RIDs, but it sounded like maintenance personnel and one mentioned going to Lumberton to pick up a door. Possibly UNC-Pembroke facilities? This is a complete guess.

Very possible that TG is in the UNC system range of TGs

I live near Guilford Co and i've noticed there are mutiple talkgroups assigned for Guilford Co to use on Viper, but I've never heard anything on them. I know Guilford Co has its own system. My question is are those Viper talkgroups just for future use or as a backup or what?

Typically they are for backup or emergency use. Wake County has the same thing and the only TG used on a regular basis is Wake SO when they do prisoner transports outside the county. However, when the county TRS has gone out they have had all units switch to the Viper TGs.

Noticed Site 59 in the Raleigh / Cary area. It's not in the DB. New site or a temp site to support the State Fair?

Do you have a frequency to share? Is it still active? Where were you when you heard it?

I know the COW was used at the State Fair, but didn't see a Site number.

I have a uniden BCD-436HP scanner. If I go into the Sentinel software, and update the Master Database, does that update the control channels when they are changed in the Viper system? Or do I need to go in and do that manually?

Yes, but as long as you have all the control channels programmed, the scanner will change automatically if for some reason, they do switch

For clarity: it will update the control channels in the MASTER DATABASE but not your favorites lists.
You have to update your favorites lists manually.

Sorry, I didn't get frequencies.

I'm seeing site 1:3B showing up a neighbor of the Cane Mtn site. It's showing a control channel frequency of 773.69375.

I can see a signal at that frequency but it's too weak to decode from my location.

Site 1:3B would convert to site 1:59, which in the RR database does not exist yet, nor is Cane Mtn showing it as a neighbor. Hopefully someone in the area can help track it down and verify it so we can submit it to the database. Thanks @jemassey

I was able to decode the new site this morning. Here is what I was able to gather:

Code:
RFSS:0x01 Site:0x3b NAC:0x1f9

Control Channels:
Frequency:772.706250
Frequency:773.231250
Frequency:773.693750 Active

Neighbors:
WACN:0x000bee00 SystemID:0x01fc RFSS:0x01 Site:0x0a Frequency:859.587500
WACN:0x000bee00 SystemID:0x01fc RFSS:0x01 Site:0x0b Frequency:855.537500
WACN:0x000bee00 SystemID:0x01fc RFSS:0x01 Site:0x0d Frequency:853.687500
WACN:0x000bee00 SystemID:0x01fc RFSS:0x01 Site:0x2f Frequency:774.281250
WACN:0x000bee00 SystemID:0x01fc RFSS:0x01 Site:0x38 Frequency:773.943750
WACN:0x000bee00 SystemID:0x01fc RFSS:0x01 Site:0x3a Frequency:773.481250
WACN:0x000bee00 SystemID:0x01fc RFSS:0x01 Site:0x44 Frequency:853.375000
WACN:0x000bee00 SystemID:0x01fc RFSS:0x02 Site:0x0b Frequency:853.725000

Voice Channels:
Frequency:770.506250
Frequency:770.756250
Frequency:771.531250

Based on the neighbors listed and the fact I had to use a simulcast decoder, I'm guessing this (WRWD923) is the license for the site. It's a six site simulcast.

If anyone has a good name for the site (Chatham County Simulcast?), I will submit it to the database.
