I will be visiting for a week in the Ormond Beach area next month and want to bring my scanner to listen. Can anyone give me some advice on what to program to hear Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach fire and life guards. I have a BCD325p2 but haven't done any upgrades yet. Any advice would be appreciated

Is anyone hearing any activity on the Volusia County P25 system ? I am new to the area and hear tons of activity on the EDACS system but with my sds-100 I do receive data but no voice on the p25 system. I am in Daytona beach so I don’t think it’s a reception issue.
Yes. The Holly Hill site is active but currently not transmitting any voice. It comes and goes based on affiliations. EDACS still caries all traffic.

OB and DB Fire, and VC EMS get dispatched on Fire 1 or "East Fire" and then assigned a Tac assignment on dispatch, depending on the call. All traffic can still be heard on the EDACS system.

Lifeguards and other beach safety can be heard on any of the BP talkgroups below. The OB 1 Talkgroup was used a lot during this past weekend.

one other question, will those require me to upgrade to Provoice? I don't use EDACS in my area and don't know how it works. Most of the talkgroups are listed as analog but me not being there i don't know if they're actually digital
Sure. All of the TGs I mentioned are still analog. And any ProVoice that's listed in the DB is encrypted so that I wouldn't waste money on ProVoice.

Plug in the East/coastal system, and you'll get a nice rewind to the way it was many places, before P25 took over the world. Both remaining coastal systems are in what will be the last year (or so) of operation as the main system, enjoy it while it's there!

New systems are right around the corner will just sound like everything else and will probably have a lot of encrypted ops like everywhere else!
