The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Does anyone know of a guide on how to use the FPP features of the Vertex VX-P829 handheld? I have the FPP password and can enter it after holding the two side buttons below the PTT key and turning on the radio, but I am not sure where to go next and how to enter frequencies.

I'm hoping this helps, as I don't have an actual radio in front of me. You'll need to read your radio with CE76 and then go to Common - Field Program and tell the radio what you want to be able to edit.
I'd try making a bank just for FPP. 16 or 20 channels
After you write back to the radio, to get to FPP do the power on button/power on and you should just need to go to menu to edit.
Another way to activate FPP is to put a /f at the end of the shortcut target C:\Vertex Standard\CE76 for Windows\CE76Win.exe" /f

Thanks! That is helpful, though what I am trying to figure out is how to use the keypad to change these values. From the screen capture you listed I am wondering if I do not have the option to create a new channel name.

After enabling it have you tried the two buttons below the PTT you'd posted about before?
My other thought is it might be in the menu. You'll need to program a menu key and I've attached what's in the menu. I've read about a dongle, but I don't know if it's really need or not.
Hopefully somebody with this radio in their hands will chime in.1668545870698.png
