Turn on the legacy service

There is an old saying... Reading is Fundamental!

SO is common courtesy sending notification to all PAYING members via email not hiding behind a post ... and then having a attitude when paid subscribers are requesting the service be restored to the way it was when the paid theid subscription since we cant request a refund...

Turn on the legacy service

I knew about the change some time ago and just waited for the upgrades to show up. Found it interesting that WINXX software was also a close to change update release.

I would say to Butel ARC500 users that most other software developers have free 30 day trial periods and you could use one of those alternatives unitl Butel releases a fixed update.

I am positive that RR admins gave more than fair notice to the software developers in order to have them have software that works prior to the change.

Arc 500 software for psr-500 scanner

I have done the new update but it still isnt connecting. It says Radio Referrence disconnected. Wait, retrieving HTTP data. When I installed I had option to remove, repair, modify. It would not work under modify so I tried repair, didnt work. Then I removed and installed. Still not working.

Please read the whole thread. This has been explained both in this thread and in the Scanner Programming Software forum.

If some of you can't wait for the arc fix and need to program you scanner so bad, why don't you program it like we did in the old days, manually. I know it sucks but I would program only the things I think I'll need, and be done with it. I am lucky, I have mine programmed to everything I want. Complaining in the forum isn't gonna get it fixed any faster. RR has nothing to do with the error, so why bother complaing about it. We know it stinks but so what. It can't be that big of a problem. Had to put my 2 cents in..

p.s. remember it takes less muscles to smile than to frown. :)

Or instead of using Butel use the OTher software with a 30 day FREE TRIAl until butel can fix it

Presumably - at least with Win500, Win97 and Win96. Don stated that with the latest updates (to support the new interface to RR), would require that people have .NET Framework installed. This was not a requirement of previous versions of Winxx software to my knowledge.

And there are a lot of people who do not install .NET. So if you have obtained the latest version of one or more of Starrsoft's Winxx products in the past week or two, you are going to need to install .NET Framework runtime in order for it to work.

You can get .NET 1.1 at the link above (Microsoft) - it's free - and this is what is required for the latest versions of Winxx to function.

I did all this and it is still giving me the same error(msvcr71.dll.error126)! I am running windows Vista.

Folks,

Please understand that the issues you are experiencing are not RadioReference.com Issues. The currently supported Web service has been operational for quite a bit of time - and we coordinated with the software developers over many months to help with the transition to the new Web service.

It just is not feasable for us to maintain a legacy Web service that hinders our ability to extend features and functiinality across the site.

If you are having problems with an individual software application and it's ability to interact with RadioReference, you need to work with the developers and companies that develop the software as a solution. RadioReference does not have any control over their development policies and approaches. Remember, in this case we are just the data providers.

I realize some of you are fustrated, so my only advice to you might be:

1) Go make sure that you've updated to the very latest version of software you are using for your radios
2) Take a deep breath and realize the context
3) If a software application that you use is currently not working properly, please contact their support team for resolution.
4) Try a different software application - it might be fun to see what other applications out there do.

Lindsay, just my 2 cents, maybe you should modify you first message in this thread where you post link to software. I would suggest to add a warning with Butel's to say that currently these software are bugged ...

ARC996PRO and ARC396XT both working fine here

Does your ARC996 is a 3.1.001 version or 3.06.006 ?

If it's a 3.1.001 can you "save all systems" when exiting ?

Do you see a funny part of the windows that is not supposed to be there in a widescreen resolution ? See attatchment in this thread http://forums.radioreference.com/sc...nt-download-conventional-freq-alpha-tags.html

See this thread (among others) of membres having problem on the subject http://forums.radioreference.com/sc...477-newest-version-arc-996-a.html#post1126011

Downloaded / Windows XP / ARC 996 Demo only ???

OK... I just downloaded the update.

It tells me that it is just a demo version.

For now, I have my original ARC996 with all its files and in addition
I have the newly downloaded version which upon opening, it says DEMO VERSION ONLY.

There were some pop up instructions that appeared the first time. I can't get those to reappear.

I suppose I can copy and paste my profiles/systems from my original ARC996 to the newly downloaded one.

I just recently purchased a new GRE PSR 600 and just got it on the 27th of July. I prurchased the Butel software with it. Much to my chagrin when I tried the new download service with my new premium subscription it didn't work. It said "Radiorefernce disconnected". I went to the forum and saw the notice about the software up grade that was needed as the leagcy link was being changed on 08/01. I was a bit confused about which one to choose as it had two links, one for "server 1" and one for server 2". I downloaded for server 1. I still got the disconnected message. I didn't have a chance thsi weekend to try it again, thinking it wasn't quite activated yet. Did I load the right update? Or is there something I missed? I am a newbie with this new type of scanner.

Doesn't sound like a problem related to the SOAP interface. Perhaps you should ask in the Scanner Programming Software forum.
