Does anyone know why 1F (Weber Co) units give an ID number along with their call-sign when they call in 10-41 and 10-42?

Also, sometimes West Valley PD Valley/Tango/Delta, etc. units will become an Oscar unit. I assume it has something to do with a particular operational situation but I haven't figured out what yet.

Weber ID

Weber/Morgan Counties use Versaterm for CAD/RMS. Each officer is required to sign on with a unique ID along with the call sign so dispatch knows who they are. UHP just uses their badge number, and it is changed when UHP renumbers. If the officers sign on with a MDT they don't have to give their ID over the air.

I think that "Oscar" units in WVC may be Ordinance Enforcement

I can second this. I was passing thru Weber County today for work. On my way back, the Weber dispatch center had serious problems (no phones, computers or radios). They were able to get the radios back up after a bit. When they did, they did a board check will all of the county units. Each unit called in 10-8 with his call sign and ID number. Seems like it was 3 or 4 digit number.

I never heard if they got their dispatch consoles back up. They were receiving their calls from the Davis Co. Dispatch Center on the Weber Regional talkgroup. They also sent some of their dispatchers to a backup dispatch location.

Kind of a fun afternoon.

Oscar Units

All VECC agencies require agencies that use there service to check on the air when doing operations off duty such as security details, football games, mall checks etc. So when VECC agencies check on the air and they are considered a non duty car they become an oscar unit meaning off duty and not available for calls for service.

Yes Jon the "Oscar" units are off duty units. That is their IBM (badge) number. For example Oscar 315 is off duty and makes a traffic stop his badge number is 0315.

You are looking in the wrong place. West Valley has not been on conventional frequencies in many years. They are on the UCAN trunked system. Current info is at: Utah Communications Agency Network (UCAN) Trunking System, Various, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies

I noticed this recent thread about West Valley and wondered why it's PD / VECC frequencies are not listed in the forum database under Salt Lake county? I can only find them by using the FCC lookup, does anyone have a full list of freqs other than 460.35 dispatch?

FCC listing for Utah and 460.3500 Mhz
Utah Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Thanks!
