Giving credit where credit is due, the "new" Whistler Group has been regularly maintaining/updating the library database since they announced their new ownership. The library database was at version 923 when it was first brought back, went to version 924 last week and as of today (02-28-2025) is now at version 925.
Glad to see they are taking care of the database.

Pardon my cynicism (An attitude of scornful or jaded negativity, especially a general distrust of the integrity or professed motives of others.) when I talk about Whistler but what’s wrong with a basic fire extinguisher ?😉😉 Also all the old scanners say “coming soon” ⁉️

What's wrong with a scanner you have to program yourself and not rely on some database download? Different strokes for different folks I'd say.

I assume you mean programming through software without the database….I do it all the time and never use the current database except for reference. all my favorites lists are original and unique to me. It would be the same if I owned a current Whistler. Not sure what this had to do with me. Now if I had to program the new “fire dog”. I might have to use the database😉😃😵‍💫

It has everything to do with you. You asked what's wrong with a basic fire extinguisher and I gave an analogy.

I don't do downloads even if they are available. I prefer to do all custom programming from scratch and set up everything exactly the way I like it. I do all of my editing in Excel files and then copy and paste into whatever software I am using. For the Whistler database scanners, I create Excel CSV files and then import them. I used to program scanners totally manually before I discovered the blessings of software. It's great to be able to add something manually if a computer isn't available.

Pardon my inability to recognized a subtle analogy. I guess my attempt at humor is too subtle also. 😉😀back on topic, excuse me while I go order a fire dog from the Whistler website……🧯

Although I many of us very bright boys can and do program manually, which is good I guess, till the SD card corrupts. No software, no reformat the card and reprogram it?
I am hoping my spare programmed ones hold me till Whistler new owners come on full blast. Otherwise I have you go to the no SD card necessary BCD996P2🤔 Got tired of the speaker buzz and slow scan SDS200.

That is so true it was hard for me to get used to my TRX-1 and SDS100 that could do it itself instead of manually doing it. I still do a lot of it my self lol i'm just too used to giving my scanners the manual programming treatment
