The state of Wisconsin, has petitioned the FCC to grant them a license for the 800 MHz band in the city of Milwaukee. This new site will be used to promote interoperability between 800 MHz users in the Milwaukee area, and those on WISCOM's VHF-High band. More information can be found on the FCC Web site:

I wonder if the City of Milwaukee Police with their Open Sky radios will be able to use this new 800MHZ WISCOM system. It just keeps getting better for scanning.

Depending on what model radios the city of Milwaukee purchased, they could be able to use this new P25 WISCOM TRS. All the radio technicians would need to do, is program the WISCOM 800 site into their radios. However, if their radios will not support P25 technology, then they are still isolated.

A while ago I was talking to one of the Milwaukee radio techs about the radios and using them for P25. He informed me that the ones they have P25 capabilities. I believe he said they had M7300 radios.

Looks like maybe Scandinavia is on the air. I'm getting a control channel on 152.2025 with a NAC of B08. Not quite full scale here though, so I'm wondering if it could be from another site. Anybody else know for sure if it's up?

Per notes from December 22,11 statewide system management group The Scandinavia tower site is online. Additional core sites to come online in 2012: Parkland in Douglas County, Wautoma in Waushara County (waiting for power), Union Grove in Racine County, Sandburg Hall in Milwaukee (waiting for final approval) Pembine in Marquette County, Kent in Langlade County, Port Washington is contingent on use of an existing site which concludes it is overloaded

Help me understand!
I have the wiscom tower map in front of me, I live in Lincoln county.
The closest tower sites are Spirit 139.1625 rssi 649, Lookout Mt 152.1875 rssi 476, Squirrel Hill 139.1125 rssi 661, & Rib Mt152.6225 rssi 614.
My question is what tower is 152.1125 coming from? I am getting rssi 799-860 I can not believe it is Clinton, Baldwin, Black River Falls , or Bloomington from this location!
It is also hard to believe I am getting Meteor 152.1275 @ rssi 663.
If I will only be monitoring from home should I only load a few sites, or the whole system?
Is the current RR listing upto date?

Just a question, down here in Chicago area hearing a digital FD on 151.475 NAC:BOD, wonder if its coming from the new WISCOM system....Never saw a "NAC" like that on my 996XT....Thank You

Greetings All...

The Milwaukee WISCOM tower is now on the air (Site #16). This is the VHF system that is active. The recently licensed 800MHz system licensed at the UW-Milwaukee building (851.4750 / 851.9250 / 852.4250 / 853.3625 / 853.8625) is not on the air as of yet.

Speaking of...Anyone know more about this up and coming system? I have heard through the grapevine that UW-Milwaukee Police Department is going to join WISCOM instead of MCTRS and will be on this system. I was more or less wondering if all the other radio traffic on the 800MHz LTR system would move to WISCOM also. I would be kind of surprised that UWM-PD just wouldn't just utilize the VHF P25 system.

UW's legacy system is VHF but they have 800 MHz radios, ergo the beta test on MCTRS.

WISCOM is a public safety system, not a business/industrial system so I doubt very much that the users of the LTR system would come over...let alone be allowed to.

Actually, the users of the UW-Mke 800MHZ LTR System ( University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Trunking System, Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Scanner Frequencies) are employees of the state university. There are no other businesses on this system.
