Hey there, i`m wondering of something, when i was just down in Green Lake this weekend i was trying to see if i could get the WISCOM/berlin site, and i noticed that it wasn`t sending a c-channel. Anyone hapen to know what`s up with that one too? Kinda related to the post re, not hearing the Delafield site, same sittuation, different location . Thanx! 73. N9NRA

I've been logging the Berlin and Fox Lake sites for the past few weeks, and didn't notice any problems with Berlin's control channel (139.6625) this weekend. Since they took down the county scan talkgroups a while back, there just hasn't been much activity on either site. Other than some testing on the tech talkgroups, and some activity on STAC-1 (mostly radio checks), there just isn't much to hear yet.

A while back someone was asking about system id's. My PRO-106 is showing a system ID of B07 for Berlin, and B0D for Fox Lake.

Since they took down the county scan talkgroups a while back, there just hasn't been much activity on either site. Okay, then i`m thinking i`m just too far away from the site to pull it in. The other thingy i think might be the problem is terrain, although where i was at the time is really rather open country, was getting into a UHF ham repeater quite well, and i`m not all that near where that site was (in the Ripon area). I`ll program the Fox Lake site and see where i get to with that. Thanx! N9NRA

N9NRA you might want to double check your setup. When typed my last message on the 19th, I was listening to Berlin's control channel on 139.6625. When I checked last night and earlier today, Berlin's cc was on 152.7425. 155.3550 also shows up in Pro96Com (and the database) as an alternate control channel. So make sure you have all three of those programmed. I can pull in the Berlin site fairly easily at home in Fairwater, so I wouldn't think reception from Ripon should be a problem.

Hey there, i had me a peek at my programming earlier today, and i have those all set up correctly (checked it against what was listed for the WISCOM/berlin site in the DB, so all is well there ). I`ll try again to recieve it the next time i`m down that way, my thinkin` now is that i`m just too far away (in Green Lake) to pull that `un in. We`ll have to see. Thanx anyway for the help. 73. That was me. I was up in Appleton last week for spring break, and some of the system IDs up that way changed. Eden was still B0C, but Chilton is B02, DePere is B04,, Wautoma is B07, Scandinavia is B08. Back here in Milwaukee, the Milwaukee VHF site is B0A, the 800MHz site is still not on the air. While I was in Appleton II was also able to recieve a control channel on 851.6625 System ID: 3F9, which accoring to Radio Reference is the new Manitowoc County system.

DNR Fire Towers

By the way, has anyone heard any game wardens yet? I was told they were supposed to transition to the system around this part of the month. Still not sure what that means as far as how they will operate. Only two scenarios I can come up with is either a statewide dispatch talkgroup for them, or just a few tactical talkgroups.

Does anyone know or care to speculate if the fire watch towers and those transmissions will migrate to WISCOM or will they stay on the VHF freq's they are on now?

Heard a lot of traffic yesterday from the towers on Blue, Yellow and Green.

That was me. I was up in Appleton last week for spring break, and some of the system IDs up that way changed. I'm sure they will one day. When that would be I don't think anyone really knows yet.

I believe they are interested since in one of the last SSMG minutes, one of the members was taking a new job with the DNR and they wished for her to remain on the SSMG.

Traffic on TG 571. Overhear multiple units: 74, 87, 30, 71. 74000xx radio IDs. 71 used GLxx for numbers. Talkgroup name was heard once: sounded like "glific."

Traffic was about boats, one unit was getting his boat and going to some location. Mention of shocker boats.

Putting things together I believe it may be the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission (GLIFWC).

The system ID is B0C, but it seems like some (all?) of the sites are broadcasting individual NAC's. I've heard of this being done on other systems to prevent interference between sites that are geographically separate, but may share frequency(s) which could cause interference during enhanced propagation. Perhaps WISCOM did this right away to prevent such problems?

I think I noticed the different site NAC's sometime over the winter, so it's a fairly new change.

Last I knew the were doing frequncy studies so it's quite possible it is being put on the air now.

OK. From my location I can hear DGFIR on Parkland without any trouble, so I should be able to hear the WISCOM site.

I heard 700 and 7700 conversing on one of the tech talkgroups last night shortly after I checked, so it may just have been offline at the time.

I didn't get a chance to check this morning.

Sounds good. This was a much needed tower for the Superior area, glad to see it coming online

Sawyer County was on WISCOM fully for about a week and they switched back. Lots of problems and the officers couldn't talk to eachother portable to portable if they were standing right next to eachother.
