Thanks for the info on TG 9342,and I say yikes on the over 3000 ID's. I change a bank or two often just to see if I can hear new stuff and to see how far my 2096 with a mobile antenna can reach(I haven't heard the clarksburg area in a while though). I don't use my 296D much although it can do P25 it won't grab the control channel(control channel is heard) and show id's(I hear traffic but no clue who's talking).I'm going to end up getting a newer model such as a 396 or maybe a Pro 96 before long.

What in the world would possess a county to encrypt fire traffic? I'll never quite understand this.

After listing to the fire dept. here, I would think they want to do that so the can get into trouble with the FCC with their tastefull mouth.

Encrypted?

IDed as Jefferson Co Fire - Encrypted

That's just not right. Somebody ought to be asking the county commission who made the decision to encrypt, and what are they trying to hide. In my opinion, it is perfectly legitimate for law enforcement to encrypt in limited circumstances (such as preparing for a raid on a drug dealer's house, etc.) But I don't understand a decision to encrypt regular fire or ems communications.

When channels are encrypted, does this cost more as far as the setup of the system goes?

Jefferson County Site

The last I heard Jefferson County is scheduled to switch over to the P25 system on 10/28. Has anyone heard anything different?

On the Jefferson site RID 151217 was just flipping through the channels. "Joined" talkgroups 1509, 1541, 1544, 1529, 1539, 9005 and finally 1507 before signing off.

I was wondering how coverage was to the east. How's it doing in your area?

Perfectly, strong enough to decode around 80% on Universal Trunker even with my directional antenna pointing the opposite direction. In Tysons Corner it has comparable strength to Loudoun.

Unfortunately my 996 wasn't set to 'record all' to all I got was dead air with ID Tracker today. FD dispatch made the announcement a few minutes before 10am.
But between what it logged and what I've got with UT:
951, 1501, 1507, 1509, 1511, 1513, 1517, 1523, 1525, 1529, 1533, 1534, 1535, 1536, 1537, 1539, 1541, 1542, 1543, 1544, 1545, 1555, 1557, 1559, 1563, 1585, 1591, 1593, 1599, 1907, 8021, 9005, 9027, 9039, 9055, 9305, 9821, 9825, 9827, 9983, 9989,

Some of these were only one hit.

Well, right now it sounds like JCO Sheriff is dispatching on the new system. There was one time that they asked a unit to return to conventional. Fire is dual dispatching on both systems. Of course all of this is subject to change...........

1589 - Co5 Private
1541 - JSCO, not sure what channel name
1507 - JSCO dispatch, also being called channel 1

I've noticed all JC traffic on the BC site, but not the other way around.

Jefferson TGs I've logged with ProScan today:

1501 - F-R Dispatch
1507 - JCSO (Ch1)
1509 - ?
1511 - Animal Control ?
1525 - Charles Town ?
1534 - Fire Command 1
1536 - Fire Command 2 ?
1541 - JCSO Ch2?
1583 - FD Company ? Private ?
1585 - FD Company ? Private ?
1589 - FD Company 5 Private
9989 - EMS to JMH

EMS seems to be using MedCom as well on the A,B,C, and D channels.

I've put all of what I have confirmed up in the DB. I'm kind of interested in what 1503, 1505 will be used for. Since it was pretty windy today and especially this morning they had two incidents occur at roughly the same time. They were able to fire up both command channels, which aparently are used as the fireground/tac channels on the fire/rescue side. 1509 appears to be used as the old channel 4.

I can't wait until they can figure out what's causing those two sequential tones to burst out on the fire dispatch channel. I heard someone complaining about it on one of the command channels earlier this afternoon.

Happy Scanning.

Around 20:15 hours I heard a Charles Town PD unit on 1509 call the channel as #2. Based on the radio traffic and Andy's prior observation it does indeed sound like a secondary PD channel similar in use to the old conventional channel 4.

I also heard a unit on 1559 calling it Event 2.
