AMR and Laramie County

All AMR and Fire Departments are suppose to change over around the middle of Jan 2012, PD and SO sometime summer 2012. Does anyone have updates on the latest two Sites, Laramie Cemetary and Wheatland South or are they still in the planning stages? If I get any other updates I will pass them on.

Radio ID

Where are you seeing these ID's? I am in Park CO and to my knowledge there has not been any new base radios installed.

Monitoring WyoLink site 210 Cedar Mountain, control channel 156.165. Several radio ID's used allocated for Niobrara county. 11490126 Cody EMS, 11490201 Park Co SO, 11490301 Park Co SO, 11490219 Cody PD, etc. The '9' indicates an ID for a base/dispatch setup. The '14' is county 14, Niobrara. Park county ID should start with '111#####'. All the mobile/handheld ID's I.ve seen are OK. - Tom

All three of those agencies are dispatched from the same location, the Park Co Sherriff's office. The consoles they have there have been in place for several years. They only recently started using Wyolink, within the last month.

Personally I monitor Dead Indian but haven't really been watching the UIDs come across. I'm sitting here now listening and all of the Powell traffic so far has 111xxxxx. Will watch for Cody based traffic. May also add Cedar as I can see both perfectly from where I am in Powell.

Does anyone know how to monitor air ambulances for flight dispatching and their specific comm centers? I can hear them talk to Cheyenne tower on 118.7 AM when close regarding ATC, but I'm trying to figure out how to monitor their other communications such as marking on scene, flight status etc. LIke the other day there was an accident on I-80 mm 399 and the brough in Air Link out of scottsbluff. What channels do they use for communicating with the crews on scene? I heard all the fire and EMS traffic on WyoLink, but nothing from the helicopter.

Airlife denver has been pretty active in cheyenne and will go live soon. Is it possible to hit the Colorado DTRS towers from Cheyenne with a "budget" setup without spending thousand of dollars?

Most of Wyomings Life flight sevices will use the old analog Mutual aid Freq of 154.875 (Sq tone: search) this usually gets used when LF (Life Flight) is comming in on the scene.

With that agency being granted Wyolink access, they maybe using, (in the Future), the County CAT talkgroup or the area MAT talkgroup to talk to ground crews for assistance in landing and patient updates.

I know here in Buffalo, Casper Life flight still uses the analog Mut Aid to land at JCMH.

Hope this info helps in your listening adventures, If you need more help PM me, always glad to help out.

Does anyone know about the Gillette Boxelder portable coverage tower that is supposed to be completed this year? on the Status map http://wyolink.state.wy.us/PDF/coverageArea/WyoLinkSiteMap.pdf , it is the GiBo tower in Campbell.
I guess my question would be, when it goes live (no idea when, or if it did already?), how do I scan for the control channels for it?, Since it obviously wont be in the database right away...

If you are using Unitrunker or Pro96Com, you could monitor a nearby tower and watch for when the GiBo tower becomes active as an adjacent site. This will show the control channel frequency. - Tom

Yep, that's where to look. I could not find any info in the FCC database to indicate possible frequencies for this site. - Tom

Are those talkgroups or radio ID's? I ask as the last one is a common highend Motorola radio ID for SmartZone systems (which operate rather close to P25 systems) - and could be a pure dumb luck.

WyoLink has a nice structure for assigned radio ID's in the system for grouping... ie the 6xxxxx series is usually federal, the first number in the ID is usually the county number (ie 5xxxx would be a unit located in Albany county), WHP 4 series, DOT in 45xxxx series, etc etc.

Also, if your anywhere near the range of Nebraska, they also share some of the same freq's as Wyolink, so depending on the scanner, setup and software you can get some extra information.

Do you have a way to record the traffic, or is this something just running in the background? I don't use any of the scanner stuff (never had a need) but I know some people have that ability. The Uniden HP-1 also will record traffic and talkgroup information, so perhaps someone in your area might be able to help out if they have a HP1.
