Oh man...rough crowd here.

If someone chooses to get their hopes up about something they would like to see happen, and is bummed out when it doesn't happen, that is their own fault, not UPMan's. I just took it that Paul was excited about it and wanted to share something positive for a change. Nothing more. But I don't have any big expectations. Hopes? Of course. We will see when it is finally released. But having a little "fun" guessing what it could be is harmless, unless you make yourself mad about it.

I'm with Jay on this. I believe DMR could be done. Maybe they even planned it back in the beginning but had to work on all the new software to address this new mode with all its features. Surely, that would take a lot of development and testing time before you could roll it out. But...if it is not the new feature to be, I'm not going to get mad about it. Whatever it is, I anxiously await. After all, something is better than nothing.

Phil

Finally! The Voice of Reason. I totally agree that something is better than nothing. DMR would be great. I wonder if the HP users will receive any new features.....

It would take Turbo to get me to buy a Uniden radio at this point in time. If they did, I would buy, it's that simple. All the other stuff, Siren, etc, I couldn't care less about.

Agreed, ratboy!

I've bought my last scanner until someone develops a radio that can handle Linear Simulcast Modulation systems and/or DMR (MotoTRBO).

I would be nice if Uniden could increase the font size on the 436 with this fantastic, huge, tremendous feature addition. That's my only gripe at the moment with my 436. Difficult to read the display, even with my specs.

I could not agree more. As more and more agencies get hoodwinked into buying Trbo (of course flavor NXDN) would be nice also. It would make for a better radio.

Same 'ol MO from Uniden?

Hint at some fantastic new feature - coming soon!
Then everyone here starts getting themselves into a frenzy, speculating as to what this amazing new feature might be. But, as soon as the new feature is released, three quarters of your customer base then becomes disappointed because it either wasn't the feature they wanted or were expecting, or the feature itself is only half baked and will require several more years of beta testing by the customers to make it work properly.

Adding more features to a platform where existing features are still not working properly after two years and is suffering from various hardware related issues? - Priceless :)

So many marketing and manufacturing experts in this thread, it amazes me none of you have taken your vast and wide ranging expertise in the engineering, manufacture, sale, and support of scanners and started your own businesses.

No, just a lot of, arguably justifiable, cynicism ;)

As pointed out previously, this an increasingly hard crowd to please.

For the literal meaning, see Anchor.
In amateur radio and computing, a boat anchor is something obsolete, useless, and cumbersome – so-called because metaphorically its only productive use is to be thrown into the water as a boat mooring. Terms such as brick, doorstop and paperweight are similar

This post deserves this link (for the target).

Don't mind me, just posting something that is about as useful as the rest of this thread :D

Well, I'm excited. Anything that moves our hobby forward. To me, that is a good thing. New Features means the competition has one more thing to try and one-up Uniden. The end result of this is that we see more features in future scanners.

The more I follow this thread, the more confused I get. I will just wait and see what is on its way like I'm waiting for Uniden to ship my scanner back. Eventually it's coming. Actually Monday the 16th. 😊

The most common definition of an anchor is an item that fixes, holds or secures something.
Maybe Uniden could do with a decent 'anchor' product right about now, to secure their future.. ;)

Regardless, your childish, thinly veiled personal attacks don't bother me in the slightest.
Go your hardest.. Others will see you for what you are.
