Yes wise871 but now that the problems are being addressed the same ones are doing the same crying about the same problems. I own a android phone but I found a solution that works for me PROSCAN it records it logs and the PC it is running on a Windows 7 Pro machine running TEAMVIEWER alows me to monitor it remotely control it hear the audio play back recordings on my phone on my laptop with no problems. Like I said I had to do a little maint on my part. The ad I saw for the scanner stated that some things were not working yet but they were working on them. I bought the scanners after other things were listed about them if mine gives me a problem then I will send them in for repair and my 436 runs 16 hours a day on dim used as a handheld. I am glad the others are getting things done about their problems.

I know I am a new guy posting around here, but I am not new to owning scanner radios, I Started with a Bearcat 20/20 back in the early 1980's , just updated to a 436HP since almost everything around here is now P25 from a uniden built Radio Shack Trunktracker III.

My guess is the details of this killer feature is still not clear if it will be fully implemented and Upman does not want to post the list things it will do as some of them may not make the cut off date for this update.

Personally I would be happy with a few little tweaks here and there that could greatly improve functionality of the unit. Even something as simple as a distinct beep when USB is disconnected would help considerably so we are not surprised that we have been running on battery power the last 2 hours becuase the USB plug pulled loose. I am sure we could all come up with dozens of little things that would help us in how we use our scanners, another one I would love to see is a countdown sleep timer so I can listen to the scanner while I go to sleep at night and not be awoken in the middle of the night to something squealing.

I think you need to ask Uniden why so many people in your opinion are acting out with Childish behavior

Just saying

I can't imagine Uniden would have a clue about why certain people feel they are intentionally out to screw everybody over.

Here's a hint, I am on firmware 1.02.03 because 1.09.02 doesn't work as well on LSM 800mhz p2 trunking harris. It's not 100% with the old firmware about 90%! With the newest, 60-75% at best. Little tid bit that took me 4 months to get where I'm at with it.

Good one, mancow.

And for those who rolled back to older firmware, the big difference was it was not AUTO threshold tuning, but MANUAL 8 even though it said auto. If you tried MANUAL 9 on VHF and UHF, and MANUAL 10 on 700 and 800, the P25 decode would have probably been better. But whatever works for ya is just fine.

Oddly, 9 and 10 are also the best values for my new 996P2, as well. I wish I could lock them in MANUAL mode, but even though FreeScan has fields to do this, it doesn't appear to work. Maybe on the next firmware update it will???

Sorry tried that too 1.09.02 on manual 8 9 10 etc nothing but garbage. I know that 1.02.03 auto setting is just manual and I can't explain why it does better on lsm it just does!

LSM Linear simulcast modulation!!!!!! They are popping up everywhere!

I've been scanning an LSM system for over 10 years. It works nearly as well as my Motorolas. Given the 10 fold price difference, that's not bad.

Somewhere in this room. Right now, you're very col
I will be very surprised if LSM reception on this scanner gets better than it already is. It's not 100% but pretty close - at least for me and for where I use it. Your mileage may vary. ;)

But even if LSM were to be updated, I don't really see that as a new feature addition of ANY kind, let alone a "huge, tremendous, fantastic" one. That's just an enhancement to a feature the scanner already has - P25 decoding. So I don't think that's going to be the big announcement.

Now adding DMR or NXDN would be a new feature.... as would adding some sort of control channel only mode that could record the entire system at once, like some folks are doing with SDR's these days - that would certainly fit the bill right there in my book. Personally I'm hoping for DMR decoding. We've got tons of DMR in Arizona and it'd be nice to have a portable way to monitor those systems.

But come on you guys, quit busting Paul's chops over the least little thing. It's his JOB to get you excited about Uniden's products and build up buzz online and all that - that's what Uniden PAYS HIM TO DO. Get it? He's not going to stop "teasing" the products to you and he's not going to tell you anything early either. Build that bridge and get over it. Having fun and guessing like this is one thing, but bashing the guy for doing his job is crossing a line, I think. Let's do better than that, even if this is the tavern.
