• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello,
I have a XG-100P that is stuck on the Harris XG-100 boot screen after powering the unit up.
I have attempted the trick of holding down the PTT and 2 menu buttons on the side only to no avail.
when reading the radio details in Radio personality maintenance utility most of the line items show up like the model number and the latest firmware. However the serial number sections shows "NONE" I am assuming this is where the issue resides. Its not a high profile radio so I have already written it off.
I was just curious if anyone has a recommendation aside from throwing it out the window to possible revive the radio.
Thanks in advance.

Was the radio connected to a system before it started doing this?

Have't heard of one this bad off yet. This is not like the stuck in burnapp mode thing.
What you might try is blowing a new burnapp, then a new bootapp.
Find the packages with the *.bat files along with the *.exe files. (run the bat files.)
Doesn't matter what version, the idea here is to get RPM to load a recent firmware upgrade.
Now if the RS232 just won't read on the radio, then some catastrophic failure has occured
and the radio is a paperweight.

Here is a link to a recent burn/boot app

Yea, but hese feebay flippers still ask prices so high, they think they will work.
I am in the market for such dud, but I think $100 is about all I would go. Don't expect to make it work, but make for an experimental platform.
How many of these sellers even have a programming cable. (As IS Unable to test further).

Mine did the same thing. You need to hold down the 2 softkeys under the display and the PTT then turn on. It will wipe the radio and load a default in.

If it were just stuck in burnapp, there ia a front key sequence to get it back to normal.
XG100P doesnt have burnapp, it has unified bootloader sequence, if its stuck it will be on general XGP code update

What does the XG-100P do when inhibited?
It makes a nice door stop, which is only slightly worse than a non inhibited 100P since its already a piece of garbage

It still does just about everything an APX8000 does for 1/8 the price. Programming one is a breath of fresh air compared to APX.

I think he might have misspoke. Since there is no "trick" involving holding down the 2 lower side buttons and those buttons aren't usually associated with the radio menu.
