Hey everybody, I've had my Motorola HT1250(VHF) for about a year now. It's a hand-me-down from my uncle, I use it mainly for listening to railroads while train spotting. Does anybody recommend an antenna I could put on my car to improve the signal? All help would be appreciated.

Why does Monroe County use UHF? With the terrain I'd expect them to use VHF. Is there too much VHF traffic in neighboring counties? What's their reasoning?

Anybody has an idea how to make or buy a MURS antenna,151-155 MHz, for a small pocket transceiver that should transmit up to 1W. The stub antennas are pretty bad when held close to the body. Maybe some kind of patch or ferrite antenna will do better.
