I'm curious about the camera. Does it have IR lights for night time? And how is the reflection back from them with the glass?

I'm still trying to figure out how he sees the road. Of course if I was over 5' tall it would help....

Sorry for the late response guys :/

Mike

The IR lights don't reflect back much and they don't really do anything at night, they're pretty weak.

Haha well the Impala actually has pretty good visibility, I never liked cars because I felt low to the ground, it actually sits up a bit for a car which is nice.

Since I've finally completed the Impala (for the most part), here's a few pictures from yesterday's test chase.

Thanks, caught me by surprise so I only had my phone with me for pictures. It was just a severe squall line. At this point I'll take anything storm related and this was the first chase in the Impala, a good test for working bugs out.

That Impala looks tough.....did you install any warning lights?
If so, any pics?

It's a tough car, I really like the Impala police package. Just about everything on the car is heavy duty which gives you piece of mind during intense driving conditions.

It just has a rear taillight flasher. In the picture you can see the reverse light on, it flashes brakes/reverse.

Not a bad idea, I just wanted something simple. I rarely use the lights but occasionally there is a need while chasing. Just be careful with traffic advisor's, these days people will look for an excuse to sue. It sucks!

what is in pic. #3??
does it block your view on the dash?????
(im not gonna' go on if it's legal or not.)

What're you referring to? There's a DVR camera just below the rear view mirror. In that picture I think the LCD is folded down, normally it's folded up so it doesn't block my view. Since I was sitting and that was the first storm I've caught with it I was checking to see what video looked like.

I'll be doing a video of it all later this week so you can actually see stuff, those pictures aren't the best.

Well I would think that you'd get sued faster if you had no lights st all....?

With this mounted on your rear deck, you'd be able to direct traffic around you if you needed to pull over on the side of the road, if not you could still use it was warning lights by hitting a button on your dashboard......either way it's visibility n it make it allot safer.....
I think it would really set the ex cruiser off.......you already have the plastic rear seat n the prisoner transport cage.......

Well you'd think, unfortunately these days if somebody gets into an accident being advised which way to go using your lights, you're the one at fault. No idea how that makes sense it's just the unfortunate way it works it's as if common sense goes out the window. My policy is to always park off the road so I don't NEED lights, there are always times where you come across a tree in the road. That's the time I stop and block the road, local law enforcement has much better things to be doing at that time than guarding a tree.

I don't have any plastic seats in the rear they were all removed, I really don't want somebody to think I'm impersonating a police officer all it takes is one person to say they feel like you are and you're in lots of trouble... I'll take a picture of how my equipment is mounted in the back, I ended up using what's left of the prisoner partition.

Just take it with a grain of salt and be safe with them if you get lights!
