kkn50 have you been hearing the odd multi-tone signalling that pops up on several frequencies? I don't have access to my logs right now to tell what freqs they are but it's an almost muscial type of series of tones but I never hear any voice with it.

Hi Sam / everyone,

I just got info on 34.04 Spanish 127.3 PL from a fluent Spanish speaker who has travelled widely in latin America. I sent him my recording of it and he identifies this as a taxi / pickup service in the town of Turrialba, Costa Rica. My recording had various local references including to the barrios of San Rafael and La Margot.

Hope this is of interest - sure was a nice catch from here

Those are commonly used in Europe. I forgot what the format is called but it uses 5 or 6 or so quick single tones.
