• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Anytone/Hytera Encryption compatibility

Hello, I have some issues with received encrypted voice with my Anytone AT-878UV Plus and Hytera Handhelds, which operate at Basic encryption type, 10 characters length. The result I get that via repeater mode, Hytera receives my encrypted voice well and on my Anytone the only thing I get is some gibberish. These are the parametres:Noname.png

Maybe the fact that it says digital encryption is set to off ?
This option relates to 4-character encryption type. As I said before other radios may read my speech clearly. From this I may conclude that my Anytone sends correct key, but it doesn't recognize key on RX.

I figured out that my radio Firmware and CPS version have not been matched, so I fixed it. But now other does not even read me at all

Solution lied within other Hytera radios. The encryption type was set to "Basic" instead of "Full" basically depriving them of AES encryption. So I think they are incompatibile with Anytone for now

Is it really no way to do so? Cmon, It literally says "Basic". How on earth is it possible to integrate advanced encryption without having an ability to send primitive codes?

I mean, that ones which will apply to Hytera radios.

So many questions reading this thread, to start when did Anytone and Hytera become commercial/prfessional radios, rather than budget/entry level radios? Also curious about the frequencies shown on the image in post #1. Are you really using a commercial frequency with an amateur frequency, with a 10 MHz difference? And, if the top frequency is in error, I did not think encryption was allowed on the ham band?

I'll assume for sake of discussion that all parties do have proper licenses for the band being used.

Why doesn't it work? Because it's proprietary to Hytera. Same reason MotoTRBO Basic Privacy only works with other Motorola radios. Proprietary.

Things like AES and ARC4/ADP are shared open standards.

Keep in mind the OP may not be in the US or even NA.

if you are looking for a cheap radio with no license fees, which supports the Motorola AES-256 (and the ARC4). there is the TYT UV-MD390 PLUS (be careful, you need the PLUS, not the normal one).

it works 100% with Anytone and Motorola in ARC4 and AES-256.
