I agree MSP is confusing I was hired in 1989 by them but ended up taking a federal job. I hear them coming up on my HP1 being identified by their individual barracks but I was wondering how much traffic in was really missing. They work closely with Harford County and in have been monitoring my local sheriff channel but only having one scanner it isn't easy to follow between them

Over the next few years Maryland State Police will be fully transitioned to the new state system (FiRST). north East and JFK Highway are already on it and by mid to late summer the remainder of the shore will be as well. I am unsure of the Central Maryland cutover timeline but it should be less than a year.

So...who's seen the 'pre-release' listing on eBay with a price tag of $1,999.99? :D

They say in the listing they will have the very first ones available, order now and get it first. Also that they will "set the real price later." I'm not sure I'd click buy it now on an auction that would bind me to paying them for something that they have listed as $1,999.99...I'd feel a little fishy about that one.

Anyway, just struck me as funny. They may be completely legitimate (and if it's you and you're reading this I'm not making accusations, just observations).

They appear to be a reliable ebay seller, but I'm a bit concerned that they claim to be able to ship the BCD436HP BEFORE UPMan has stated they they will be available. They are not asking you to click buy it now, which WOULD obligate you to paying the $1,999.99 price, but rather asking you to call them to pre-order. No idea if they are expecting payment up front or not.

The $1,999.99 price is most likely a place holder price. Sellers on Amazon do this a lot when they are out of stock on something, but want to keep their listing up for visibility.

Ultimately, their listing DOES violate the ebay seller terms, and will result in zero protection from ebay because they are asking you to complete the transaction outside of ebay.

OK. I found it at an off-site 3rd party thru an Amazon link. (Bearcatwarehouse)

But it doesn't appear Amazon sells it.. at least not yet.

Thanks again.

That price is for the Super Duper Secret Special Edition of the 536HP, aka the 536HP-SDSSE. This version has the ability to monitor everything the regular 536HP can but adds the ability to monitor such systems as MotoTRBO, EDACS w/ProVoice, iDEN, etc. Also, scanner enthusiasts can monitor the thoughts of cats, dogs (except Chihuahuas), some squirrels, and most varieties of rabbits.

I noticed in the recent past some really excessive prices on some items and wondered about it, someone explained it to me like this when I asked about it: sellers on eBay sometimes get offers from eBay to do listings free of listing fees so they pounce on that when the opportunity presents itself by posting an ad for something they either a) sell but happen to be out of stock at that time or b) items not yet available (like the BCD536HP, for example) but they will sell when available, and I think there's another reason or two as well.

I get why it's done, but it does seem a bit screwy when you see some ridiculously bloated price for an item even so.

<not that I wouldn't mind having that BCD536HP like, right now, of course> :D

Wouldnt want to be a DB Admin right now.

Some counties in the DB are a mess with duplicate freqs and PL/DPL. I can see the roll out of this device associated with an overload of DB change requests.

Will need to sell off my 996xt w/RH-96 and pro-2055 and an HT1250 or two to cover this scanner. But it looks worth it.

I'm hoping to see several RH96's hit the market individually (i.e. not bundled with a scanner) at reasonable prices as the release/ship date for these new models gets closer... I've been keeping a close watch on the Bay for some lately.

Oh that figures. All I have in my area is chihuahuas. Thanks a lot Uniden.

Can anyone one tell me if 536 can be programmed manually thanks

In addition to the front keypad programming, you can also use the Sentinel BCDx36HP software for programming purposes. Adding "stuff" that isn't in the HP database is done through the Favorites List editor in the Sentinel software.

The Sentinel software for the new scanners is available on line at WebHome < Newscanners < TWiki Look for "Sentinel to Play With" and there is a hyperlink to a zip file.

No way I won't spend more than what they are priced at $499 and $599?

Will this unit have a speaker out jack like a standard cb that will allow you to plug in a normal external non amplified speaker or will we need amplified like the HP1?
