Actually, I don't need the update after all. Someone on the HoustonScan Yahoo group gave me the custom band plan to input. I didn't know that the PSRs supported custom bandplans out of the box back 2 years ago. Thanks for the offer though.

Looks like after watching my frequency display on my radio since rebanding it, I can say that all the existing (prior) freqs have dropped by 15mhz. But only the freqs that were originally above 866mhz. The 856 and 857mhz freqs are still as is. This also falls into play as to what I've read about rebanding here on Radio Reference.
So it looks like I'm out of luck with my pro-97. Can anyone confirm that I can not scan College Stations new system with the pro 97? If not which scanner do you recommend?

For changing the trunked systems frequencies in the PSR 500 follow these steps:
First, press "PGM"
Second, select "EDIT" (F2- unless you've pressed the arrows)
Third, scroll right (using arrow pad) to "TSYS" and select it.
Fourth, scroll to the system you want to edit (using up/down arrows)
Fifth, select "EDIT"
Sixth, scroll down to the third menu option "Frequencies" and press "Enter"
Seventh, input all the rebanded frequencies in place of the old ones, pressing "Enter" after each one
Eighth, select "Save"
Ninth, press "Scan" and you should be good to go.

The system went down again today, for some reason. I heard mainly fire over on 'U FIRE' as they referred it on the TAMU system.
Hearing the TAMU system and Brazos/Bryan system still the same. The custom bandplan for my PSR 500 is working just fine on the CS system. So the changes thus far are limited to:
CS system rebanded on 866-868 frequencies, moved to 851-853. The 856-857 frequencies remain in use.
Brazos SO South Tower in Millican rebanded from 866.750 to 851.750, PL 156.7 analog only.
I am sure everybody in earshot is listening daily to the TAMU/Brazos systems for changes, though TAMU won't have anything to reband, outside of maybe giving up their >860.0000 MHz freqs.
Also, heard key-ups on 154.800 NAC 200, which is Grimes County SO 2. I have been in Longview for two weeks, but all ambulance and SO/DPS traffic remain on the analog 141.3 version of 154.800 since I have come back.

I tried to fix the CS TRS freqs in my PSR500, but it won't trunk now. I copied the freq's directly from the screen of my BCD396T, which now tracks it. The PSR, however, will NOT recognize the freq's as part of the system and won't track it (the "T" symbol won't show up even though the control channel comes in 100%).

Not sure but I think they had reverted to the old system freqs. over the weekend. My friend has a RS- Pro 106 and it was doing the same thing as you described. This morning it all seems to be back to the new freqs and his scanner was working normally.

It seemed to be working over the weekend. I fixed the problem on my PSR500. I had to add a custom frequency table:
Low Channel: 440
High Channel: 559
Step: 25.0
Base: 851.02500

Here's the breakdown of what will happen starting in January:
-BVWACS will join HCRRS starting in January with 60-90 days of preliminary testing
-Washington County will receive new radios in January and should be up and running by April
-Texas A&M will begin using the new XTSs and XTLs now being used by UPD, TAMU EMS, and administration to connect with HCRRS
-College Station will also join the system at some point early next year
-Long range plans indicate that Burleson, Grimes, Robertson, and Madison counties will eventually become part of this system
In summary, College Station, Texas A&M, and Washington County will join BVWACS which in turn will become part of HCRRS starting in January.
As of now, I have not seen any new TGIDs that match up with those of HCRRS appear on any of the mentioned systems.

Ditto here. The article did not make it clear whether a new site will be created or whether the current one will simply be integrated. I suspect that the Bryan/Brazos County site will probably be rebanded if it is integrated into HCRRS. I have not seen as of yet any indications of a new data channel popping up anywhere (I just finished searching both the 700 and 850 trunked bands). As for TAMU, I suspect only UPD/TAMU EMS will switch, while the rest of the TAMU operations (Physical Plant, etc) will remain on the current system, which could somehow become part of the HCRRS analog system. I would probably start looking for new TGs come January, when preliminary testing is set to begin. If they do show up, they will probably be the test channels used by the Harris County Regional Radio Center (1456, 2000, and 17744).
To answer your question about distance, probably yes; as long as someone with a radio from somewhere else in the system is monitoring here. I suspect that at first you will get a bunch of out-of-county channels coming up on the system, but in the long run, they will become fewer and far between, depending on which system you are monitoring (expect more with the analog system and less with the digital). The prospect of hearing Harris County from here is sort of exciting, because I'll be able to hear at least some of the stuff that goes on down there that appears in the Houston Chronicle the next morning.

I have a neighbor here with a Bryan radio. I will see if he has had any changes made to his radio. It has been almost two years since the last time I took a look at his radio.
Ha, I was listening to San Augustine SO and Carthage PD from Bryan today. I was also able to get the Longview TRS and the Bowie Co TRS control channels with a little static.
You got skip too last night? I was hearing Houston Fire and Houston Police all yesterday. Since I was studying for a final yesterday, I must of missed most of it.

Made 2 meter contact on Simplex 700+ miles away and Talked from here into the Athens Texas Repeater to a Repeater in Georgia which was programmed the same way. Ha! I even got the Arkansas TRS Control Channel in Little Rock!

Message to loumagg or ericcarlson: When these new sites start popping up, or the Bryan/CS sites go P25 standard, how do you want to add them? I am thinking they should have the 1A7 system ID upon startup since the central controller is supposed to be shared with Harris County. But in the event they don't, even though we know they are eventually going to be there, would we add them as a new system?
I did hear the radio techs testing some (new?) radios on the Brazos County system yesterday. So far, no new talkgroups or any major changes.
