This the only forum I've ever seen where 99% of the participants have a chip on their shoulder.

It's interesting that people are elaborating on this but no one is disagreeing with me.

At the risk of getting this back on topic, THPD radio remains as it has been, with Dispatch clear and everything else enc. Vigo County Sheriff, dispatched out of the same room, remains completely clear.

I have heard nothing at all about this whole thing in the local news.

I don't know what started this but I would conjecture that the reasons cited in the filing aren't what is truly going on. Terre Haute has a long history of corruption and this may be simply the city attorney trying to make a name for himself preparatory to making a run at a higher office than the one he currently occupies. Not being a resident of Terre Haute or Vigo County, I'm not sure if Mr. Felling is elected or appointed. I do know that his family have been prominent attorneys in the area for a very long time.

That's my $0.02 on the subject. I'll keep my ears open but I suspect that when Donnie took down his feed, the whole thing became a moot point and Mr. Felling will be looking for something else to use to enhance his reputation.

You'd think that if the City Attorney was wanting to make a name for himself, that he would have called in the media to announce to them that the safety of THPD officers was being compromised by this feed and that he was taking legal action to stop it. I'm sure that the mostly-uninformed media would have lapped it up.

From the Terre Haute City Code:
Sec. 2-37 Department of Law.

a. Under the provisions I.C. § 36-4-9-4, a Department of Law is established to be headed by the City Attorney, who shall be appointed by the Mayor.

b. The Legal Department advises the Mayor and the Common Council on legal issues; prosecutes City ordinance violations and handles lawsuits on behalf of the City.
Which begs the question, what city ordinance was being violated by the feed? It would seem that the extent of the City Attorney's authority is to prosecute violations of city ordinances.

He can write the letter and hope for results. When the letter fails (and I know it will) he can file papers and take it to the appropriate court. He's not trying to enforce any law because a law isn't being violated. This would be a tort making it civil.

Actually, his letter has achieved the desired result. The individual who was providing the feed has taken it down. This leaves Broadcastify with little defense since it appears that they complied with the C&D.

...For now.

I suspect we will see more of this under the new administration

I actually expect to see less of this kind of intrusion into the private sector. Please reread the Constitution, the last/current administration ignored it.

Perhaps you missed?

BINGO you win the prize! Oh and we all loose our hobby.

4. More transparency into the attempt to establish a gestapo state.
5. Less public interest in funding both publicly and privately a gestapo style protection scam.
6. More private funding of better armed, better equipped private protection forces serving individual communities or interests.
7. Financial dismantling, and dispatch of all previously funded police forces in favor of the new protection schema.

This can really go either way folks. When people get sick and tired of being sick and tired, they will peel off the sheeple eyelids and take a look around. There is a quick fix to the agony. Stop enabling it. Government suppression... Stop funding it! Too much regulation... Stop funding it! Enforcement of assumed as versus real enforcement... Stop funding it! Corruption of any of the aforementioned... Stop funding it! The world speaks majoritively through its pocket book. If you don't like the way things are stop paying for it to be that way.

This is way off topic already but here goes:

In line with your idea of voting with dollars which is wholly impossible under the current schemes.

A flat tax system where we all pay xx% on earned income. This includes corporations. The tax rate would be determined by economists who are hired to determine the ACTUAL current required tax revenue to run the country and reduce debt and who are tasked to reduce that tax rate in subsequent years.

This Flat Tax amount determines the entire tax amount you report on your 1040 EZ form side A. Now here is the good part, Side B of the 1040 EZ form allows you to vote with your dollars with following percentages:

1.__% to General Fund (or simply default to 100 % For lazy sheeple)

2 __ % Social Programs (other than Social Security and Medicare)

3__% Make up Social Security and Medicare deficit

4__% Foreign Aid

5 __% Department of Defense

6 __% Department of Education

7 __% Department of Energy

8___% Department of Commerce

and so on..

Think about it, everyone can vote their opinion, the Lobbyists get screwed in the process because they cannot control the budget. It is what it is.

I will be running in 2020 now that I see how easy it is.

So what is most interesting here is that Mr. Felling, the City Attorney, is a FULL-TIME City Employee and only works two days a week at the City Legal Office. He otherwise runs a full-time private practice, Felling and Felling Law in Terre Haute an hour away. His FULL TIme law practice is located in Greencastle (765) 653-5555 and when called his secretary quickly refused to answer questions. Sounds like a RTKR is forthcoming to the city of Terre Haute about this most interesting arrangement. RTKR can be sent to Molly Meeks at the City Law Department molly.meeks@terrehaute.in.gov

Oh boy, this would be like swinging a broom at a hornets nest. Good luck at getting legal help as lawyers are an incestuous bunch.

it could be said since that radio system is paid for by tax payers. (ie the people) it is the peoples 2 way radio system and we have a right to listen to the system we the people own. to be frank, government should not be allowed to use encryption on any radio system that WE pay for. if they do not want us to listen, then they should find another way instead of stealing our money to pay for a system we are unable to listen to.

Agreed, and to take it a step further, we pay their salaries, under PRA laws we have a right to know what they are doing. If the city chooses to encrypt the citizens of that city should be asking their city board and police chief, what are they hiding?

Officer safety, is more than likely the response you will get.

It's the same response when they shoot an unarmed man.....

Or tackle a deaf woman who called 911 because she was being attacked....

Or have a gun pointed at you for riding a bike...

EVERYTHING is 'officer safety'...

I'd say you go all out, start putting GPS trackers on all their cars, PUBLICLY post EVERYWHERE the chief, mayor, etc goes, every little detail....... Make them squirm...

There's nothing illegal about putting a GPS tracker on their cars, even the courts say so.. use their own weapons against them.
