Also here's some photos from the CHP mobile command vehicles I took on a fleet tour, and you can see 7CHP VA and 7CHP GG, for Valley Division and Golden Gate Divison, respectively.

I'm still confused, are you saying that all the CHP mobile and base extender 700 MHz frequencies have labels of "7CHPxx" then "7CHPxx+1" and so on? As far as I know all of those were always proposed and are in use for the mobile extenders. As I understand it the base extenders are not all built out yet, but progress is being made. mmckenna passed along one interesting tidbit about the CHP thinking of a 700 MHz trunking system in his neck of the woods. I'm still confused here, I'm sorry this is off topic, but when scannerboy02 stated "I'm aware the "7CHP" system never really became anything," is not correct as you have indicated that all the existing and proposed extender, base and mobile, are the "7CHP" system. Maybe scannerboy02 was referring to a system like mmckenna is talking about.
7CHP is used on specific frequencies...7CHPIF (Inspection Facility Channels) like Turquoise in Cordelia...So it's a semi-built system.

First, the State of California has an SL license (SL - Public Safety 700 MHZ Band-State License). This gives the state a pool of 700 MHz frequencies for their exclusive use anywhere in the state, without needing to license individual sites. You will not see any individually-licensed sites for "CALIFORNIA, STATE OF" under 700 MHz because they're already licensed state-wide. I have attached the 700 MHz pool assigned to the state as filed in the license WPTZ774, publicly. This is what CRIS 700, CDCR 700, CHP 700 LMR, CHP 700 VRS, Caltrans 700, State Parks 700, Fish & Game 700 VRS, ABC 700 VRS are all licensed under, which is why you don't see any 700 licenses popping up for the state in your or any areas.

Second, there's documents related to a CHP 700 MHz LMR system. Included in the attachments is a map of the CHP 700 MHz LMR system, in addition to the VRS system and what area offices have what VRS channels, attached below. These were filed in their FCC license publicly.

That's how I found about site 36 was because of those CHP base frequencies. I forgot the they were still loaded on my radio and saw it was stop on the CC and it was showing the system info.

So apparently, this is like 5th hand traffic so take it for what it is worth, CHP VAL GOLD will be transitioning to CRIS on TG861 over the next few days/week(?)...Again, take it for whatever it's worth.

I have a suspicion they're planning to move not only CHP VAL GOLD, but also CHP VAL BLACK and CHP VAL GREEN, in other words move the CHP Sacramento Communications Center over to CRIS as a trial, especially as the area offices receive the new vehicles coming out of fleet with the new RF decks.

I wouldn't be surprised but...

My guess is CRIS will be CHP's (and others) way of complying with Cal DOJ. I wouldn't be surprised to see two CHP talk groups representing each "low band" channel, one "primary" talk group in the clear (perhaps linked to the low band channel) and one "tac" talk group that's encrypted.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see this with the Golden Gate and Los Angeles Communications Centers sooner rather that later being that those areas are fairly well covered now.

The thing I will also be interested in seeing is how the 700 MHz mobile radios on CRIS will work (or not work) with the 700 MHz VRS's. When Ohio MARCS added 700 MHz sites the Ohio State Patrol had major interference issues between the mobile radio and the VRS and they ended up dumping the 700 MHz VRS and went back to the analog UHF VRS.

Additionally, I was able to occasionally get Site 50 at Wolf Mountain, and when heading down Highway 20 from Nevada County to Marysville. When I got more into the valley, Site 1's signal blew Site 50's signal out. This leads me to believe that Site 50 is on either Oregon Peak (Yuba County), or Signal Peak (Nevada County) based on that I can hear it in portions of Nevada County, and some say they can hear it in Butte County. I plan on taking another trip up to pin point Site 50's location in the future.
Site 50 is NOT on Oregon Peak. I did some RF hunting today, driving from Sacramento to Marysville via Highway 70, then up to Oregon Peak (as close as I could get without getting onto the BSA camp property that one must drive through to get to the actual Oregon Peak lookout site). I was able to get everything that transmits from Oregon Peak from where I parked, but Site 50 was definitely not transmitting from here (barely even a blip on the scanner). I decided to continue east, taking Highway 49 into Nevada City. Site 50 would come in stronger at some points the further east I would go, but nothing too strong. My guess now, and with talking to others offline, is the site is further up I-80 eastbound.

This morning I've copied Mount Saint Helena with TG 427 and 428 (both TDMA) between RID's 7288, 7295 and 7296. LOTS of informal chatter...Last call was 0806:17 from RID 7288.

I see that 3001 was coming up for you on NAC 9DD. Interesting that 3001 was also coming up on 9D8 (Site 18) right about the same time. Also TG 841. No voice grants here on Site 18 today, though.

Not much but Gold has been pretty active all weekend long...A few times I thought it disappeared but it was just some "Q" word time on the air...

It definitely disappears at times, not just for "Q" purposes. It'll be busy on low-band, but quiet on CRIS. Sometimes the 7CHP IF simulcast comes back on when it's not active on CRIS.

Except when passing the scales I don't think I've ever heard the IF on CRIS yet...Just Gold traffic. I think about 70% of low band actually gets re-broadcast on CRIS.

I was in Sacramento over the past few days and I noticed that the Gold "patch" to both CRIS and the 7CHP IF/7CHP AIR/7CHP GGB channel was on and off even in the early morning hours. I'm starting to wonder if the dispatcher has the ability to control/steer (perhaps not knowing they are doing it??) the "patch." I don't think a radio tech would be doing that at 2am.

Also, I can confirm site 50 is NOT at Cisco Grove or the Donner Beacon nor was I able to receive it (or any other unknown sites) at all along I-80 from Sacramento all the way to the Donner Beacon so my guess would be that it's further to the north someplace.

I also noticed that Diablo was showing to be in site trunking mode.
