7CHP is used on specific frequencies...7CHPIF (Inspection Facility Channels) like Turquoise in Cordelia...So it's a semi-built system.I'm still confused, are you saying that all the CHP mobile and base extender 700 MHz frequencies have labels of "7CHPxx" then "7CHPxx+1" and so on? As far as I know all of those were always proposed and are in use for the mobile extenders. As I understand it the base extenders are not all built out yet, but progress is being made. mmckenna passed along one interesting tidbit about the CHP thinking of a 700 MHz trunking system in his neck of the woods. I'm still confused here, I'm sorry this is off topic, but when scannerboy02 stated "I'm aware the "7CHP" system never really became anything," is not correct as you have indicated that all the existing and proposed extender, base and mobile, are the "7CHP" system. Maybe scannerboy02 was referring to a system like mmckenna is talking about.
Outstanding post! Thank you.First, the State of California has an SL license (SL - Public Safety 700 MHZ Band-State License). This gives the state a pool of 700 MHz frequencies for their exclusive use anywhere in the state, without needing to license individual sites. You will not see any individually-licensed sites for "CALIFORNIA, STATE OF" under 700 MHz because they're already licensed state-wide. I have attached the 700 MHz pool assigned to the state as filed in the license WPTZ774, publicly. This is what CRIS 700, CDCR 700, CHP 700 LMR, CHP 700 VRS, Caltrans 700, State Parks 700, Fish & Game 700 VRS, ABC 700 VRS are all licensed under, which is why you don't see any 700 licenses popping up for the state in your or any areas.
Second, there's documents related to a CHP 700 MHz LMR system. Included in the attachments is a map of the CHP 700 MHz LMR system, in addition to the VRS system and what area offices have what VRS channels, attached below. These were filed in their FCC license publicly.

site 36= Calandra (Williams Hill) went to King City the other day was picking up site 36 strong all around King CityBay Area sites for CRIS:
I've been told that 4 new bay area sites will be turned up in the spring of next year...
Monterey Bay area will eventually get sites at:
Fremont Peak (above Salinas)
Calandra (Williams Hill)
I wouldn't be surprised but...I have a suspicion they're planning to move not only CHP VAL GOLD, but also CHP VAL BLACK and CHP VAL GREEN, in other words move the CHP Sacramento Communications Center over to CRIS as a trial, especially as the area offices receive the new vehicles coming out of fleet with the new RF decks.
My guess is CRIS will be CHP's (and others) way of complying with Cal DOJ. Site 50 is NOT on Oregon Peak. I did some RF hunting today, driving from Sacramento to Marysville via Highway 70, then up to Oregon Peak (as close as I could get without getting onto the BSA camp property that one must drive through to get to the actual Oregon Peak lookout site). I was able to get everything that transmits from Oregon Peak from where I parked, but Site 50 was definitely not transmitting from here (barely even a blip on the scanner). I decided to continue east, taking Highway 49 into Nevada City. Site 50 would come in stronger at some points the further east I would go, but nothing too strong. My guess now, and with talking to others offline, is the site is further up I-80 eastbound.Additionally, I was able to occasionally get Site 50 at Wolf Mountain, and when heading down Highway 20 from Nevada County to Marysville. When I got more into the valley, Site 1's signal blew Site 50's signal out. This leads me to believe that Site 50 is on either Oregon Peak (Yuba County), or Signal Peak (Nevada County) based on that I can hear it in portions of Nevada County, and some say they can hear it in Butte County. I plan on taking another trip up to pin point Site 50's location in the future.
