Lots more VHF frequencies being coordinated for CRIS:

This is just a start in filling in some big gaps in coverage for Inyo and Mono Counties. Eventually they need to erect sites at all the VHF sites that both counties have been maintaining in the last 40 years, maybe earlier. Even with all those sites there are still some large areas with no coverage. One of those is the Tioga Pass road (eastern entrance to Yosemite) and Saddlebag Lake. In Inyo County coverage on the east side of the Inyo Mountains can be problematic. There are areas in the northern portion of Death Valley National Park that Rogers Peak can't cover. The NPS has a remote location site that covers this that the county has never located a repeater there.

Thanks for passing this on, I just checked this website about a week ago and didn't see this, but duh, you are sharing something that just got posted today. I will look to see if, and when, they start applying for many more sites. Someone made a good decision to keep these eastside Sierra counties on VHF. I expect they will do the same on some westside Sierra counties as well. Tuolumne County comes to mind right away due to topography.

I also see that the state learned their lesson and are keeping the northwest portion of the state on VHF as well. The lesson there is a combination of terrain and the attenuating effect of conifer tree needles on 800 MHz signals.

The plan is to have VHF overlay at most of the sites. Eventually CalFire will be on it, so that makes some sense.

I discovered Sites 31-33 this week and added them to the DB. We also still need someone to verify alternate CCs and neighbors for sites 37 and 59.

Looks like there are new sites popping up as neighbors in the Riverside area. Any SoCal folks hear them?

Site 56 - 769.40625
Site 58 - 773.08125

In North OC, I hear 769.40625 weakly with an analog radio, but not set up to decode it, so it could easily be Oat. I don't hear 773.08125.

Have you heard Santiago recently? I am near Disneyland and can hear Lukens great but can't pick up Santiago on 770.44375. Could be a weird shadow, but that would be super weird.

Phil, I'm in West OC and I have always found Santiago to be very weak here too. I don't know why unless they are using a directional antenna. Like you, I find Lukens to be much better on the receive level.
