Just a heads up, when the CHP Valley Division channels moved to CRIS, you could no longer hear the field units on the low-band frequencies. You would still hear the dispatcher.

Today is the first time I've turned on the low-band frequencies in a couple weeks and they're now broadcasting the field units again (you can tell however they're still talking on CRIS). I'm not sure why they turned the audio bridge on, but I'm guessing it might have to do with outside agency access.
The results of this 'testing' will definitely be interesting. The inability for an agency like Sacramento Sheriff to be able to scan encrypted CHP on CRIS while having the same radio on a SRRCS talk group is a bit of an issue, especially for agencies in Sacramento which work so closely with each other.

Also for everyone monitoring via DSDPlus, make sure to upgrade to the latest version which supports Motorola OTA Aliases. I upgraded to it and CRIS appears to be sending them, at least for some of the radios. I waiting for the decode to happen on the server side, and will post some results later once I get them.

All the guys I know that work the 58 office which is Rancho are back on low band. Apparently there was just too much issue with the Cris system. I thought this was supposed to be a system of systems. Why couldn’t they have just utilized Sac countys towers for better coverage. If that’s actually the issue, I guess only time will tell.

You can't just hang another antenna (or antennas) onto a tower. Trunking already requires multiple antennas/frequencies and you do have to be worried about tower loading. What happens if you damage my equipment while you're working on yours on my tower? Lots of issues. You need your own tower, and while we might be able to co-locate, there are issues with that too. It will take a LOT more "antennas" to cover an area on UHF than it does via low-band VHF.

I was talking about the Cris system utilizing the srrcs system towers. Aren’t the two systems linked together by there core’s

CRIS and SRRCS have not linked their cores and the subscribers aren’t set up to roam between the different towers. It’s possible in the future but for now no other systems have been added or absorbed by CRIS.

I’m listening to the low band stream right now and I’m only hearing the dispatcher for all of the areas that use the gold and the black, no units. I haven’t heard of any areas that have gone to CRIS going back to low band.

So I guess hearing the units on the lowband side means what then. You’re the expert I’m curious to hear your thoughts?

If I remember right one of the LA's county CWIRS system is link to CRIS via ISSI
From some of the documentation I've seen they have a Motorola Critical Connect connection to the system so theoretically they could link to any other system also using Critical Connect.

CRIS currently has no connectivity to any other systems.
