I just switched the G5 to Calvert VHF, and I can receive it, but just barely, lol.

From what I’m told they rushed to get it on line due to notices sent to them but there’s still a lot of tweaking to do on it. Notice the audio is very low. The audio and signal should be better in time. It’s still patched in with 33.8200 due to folks still using the low band pagers.

A bit more news on the new system subscribers (after all, it's been on the air for over two years now, lol.)

The channel plan for the fire radios - not including any mutual aid channels for surrounding jurisdictions - will have 4 Zones: FA ("Alpha'), FB ('Bravo'), FC ('Charlie), FD ("Delta'). The DISP (1/16), OPS (2), ADMIN (14) and FESAFE [simplex talkaround] (15) channels will be available in the first 3 zones, with the dispatch channel programmed into position 1 and 16 (for life safety as the dispatcher is always monitoring this channel.) EMS1 (3) and EMS2 (4) are available in Zones FA and FB. Three sets of 3 major Incident channels are in Zones FA and FB: INC10 (5), INC11 (6), INC12 (7), INC20 (8), INC21 (9), INC22 (10), INC30 (11), INC31 (12), and INC32 (13). FB major Incident groups are INC40,41,42; INC50,51,52; and INC60,61,62. Zone FC will have EMS3 and EMS4 in channel positions 3 and 4; FTRAIN1,2,3 in channel positions 5,6,7; SPOPS1,2,3 in positions 8,9,10; CHFADM (or blank) in position 11; P & F [Fire/police coord] in position 12; COMEET [meetme] in position 13. Zone FD channel position 1 is EMRC; position 2 is MED31; position 3 is MED32; the rest are blank.

Notes:
Channels will be referred to by the zone and channel number, e.g "Alpha 2" for Ops; "Bravo 8" for INC50, etc.
SPOPS tgs will be encrypted (boo.)
There is an additional CSE Zone for Special Events.

I noticed that there was no activity on the new Calvert P25 system today when I was in the area. No BSI, no consoles, no continues. Unusual. Perhaps they are getting ready for something.

It seems Calvert is doing a lot of testing with their tones today on 154.3925. Some tones seem very different from what I’ve ever heard. I wonder if they will be changing their tones.

Maybe - have they distributed new pagers yet?

Still very little activity on the new Calvert P25 system. The local news outlets probably should be asking questions considering the amount of money spent so far on the system. It's about 2 years late now. I definitely would like to see the consultant's report for a proposed system - if they did one. I know that some pros had commented that the system cost was a little light considering the terrain challenges.

inquires have been made by many and all they get is “very soon”. At this point there shouldn’t be anything major to pervent them from switching over.

Driving through Calvert this evening, it seems that the Sheriff's Office is making heavy use of tg 1808 as both a dispatch and tac channel - it was very busy, almost non-stop. In the RRDB, it is described as a Police / Fire multi-tac channel. The Sheriff dispatch tg was also in use, but not quite as busy. There were times when the system seemed to be bursting / alternating very fast between the dispatch tg and some random tg, so perhaps they are having some system issues. Of course, the new system is on the air, but not carrying traffic.

I noticed somebody submitted Fire and Local tgs for the new Calvert system - not sure of the source. The new system was not carrying traffic as of late last week.

Well if the sheriff is going to be encrypted, I have a SDS100 I need to return.
It is coming today.
