I have a question that no one seems to know the answer to. What is the back system in case the trunking system crashes? I know Burlington has the WAR and 11 "back up to TRS" channels. Does Camden county fall back to the VHF channels or go to cell phones? The portables I have seen some have ITAC programmed but can the county monitor them?

When the Communications Center came around and introduced the radio system to the fire departments & EMS they stated the VHF channels or consoles were going to be removed with the exception of F-1 Dispatch & SJ Net. There was a lot of uncertainty <sp in the begining about the system, it was new to everyone at the time.

This is what is in C Bank on an APX 6000Li I use.

That still does not answer the question to what happens when the system goes down. Does County have the ability to monitor those itac channels as a back up?

I figured I would post that bank of channels with hope of someone shedding some light on what they are supposed to be used for. I was under the impression that ITAC channels were for interoperability.

One would hope that if they programmed the channels in the radio they would be able to monitor those channels.

The 8TAC and 8CALL channels are conventional repeaters used for interoperability. I would imagine that county can monitor these.

The 3 INTROPs are talkgroups on the county 700 MHz system

ST CALL and DEL-RIV-1 are talkgroups on the NJ State 700 MHz system

Anyone have an idea yet on when the police is gonna switch over shocked that there still on the analog channels

We were told in the 4th quarter of this year, which we are in. There seems to be a lot more activity in the 300 ID groups. Perhaps testing? I don't know since they are encrypted. I guess one way to find out is listen to the 500 conventional and when you don't here them there anymore, thats when they moved over. Sorry, but I don't have anymore information then that.

Cherry Hill and Camden can still be monitored as well. No encryption on their main channels. Pennsauken is the only other self-dispatched dept but they've been encrypted for years.

That's good there will still get to hear Camden and Cherry Hill anything about Patco Police or they part of Philly Dispatch?

Patco has their own EDACS TRS (same as Camden City & CH) and can be monitored. Their info is in the RR database at the very bottom of the Camden County page.

Has anyone heard any rumors if GRE is going to come back or if Uniden will be making a TDMA P25 Second Gen. scanner soon?
