All the dot NET versions are designed to coessist. One version doesn't replace an earlier version. .NET is different then .NET Framework. .NET Framework 4.8 which ProScan targets is still supported and doesn't have an end of life date.

In task manager, right click it and choose End Task. Maybe it got hung up when it was loaded
yOU NEED TO completely remove Sentinel with the help of a software removal tool.
Power off the Computer wait a couple minutes and turn it back on.
Reinstall Sentinel AS Administrator I would even pick a new folder location.

Am I missing something or it it really 4 pages/67 posts and the OP still can't program his scanners?
It is about time to take the PC to a PC Repair Shop and have it fixed by a Professional.

You are missing something. I got my BCD436HP back, where. It is seen by Proscan, and recording. My SDS100 still wants me to 'Clear User Data'. Regardless of either scanner. When I do anything in Sentinel, other than changing 'Target Model', it is freezing and, I have to shut it down. Even after doing a complete malware/virus scan. Along with a complete un-install, and re-install of Sentinel.

A complete uninstall is usually done with 3rd party software which first uninstalls the program, then does a deep search for any left over files, directories and registry entries. It then removes those and leaves the pc in a state as if the program was never installed before, which is what you want. How did you uninstall sentinel?
If you find the This Computer icon and right click- properties, what exact version and build of windows are you using?
That fact that there were issues running sd formatter is a little odd that it shows running but you can’t see it on the screen.

Just out of curiousity.
To use the SDS100 with Proscan you set the scanner to "Serial Mode" when prompted.
However .....
To access the card in the scanner you need to select the USB mode.
Otherwise you won't be able to read/write to the scanner.

If you do nothing it will default to serial mode after about 10sec...
Yes. However if the scanner is in "Serial Mode" you can ot access the memory card, or apply any firmware updates

I have both scanners in USB mode all the tine, except.
1. When I want upload from Proscan to the scanners
2. When I to download the F/W n' HPDB updates via Sentinel, to the scanners
