As some of you have probably seen Engine 48 has received a new Smeal Engine, it went into service sometime last week.
There is a new Smeal Engine at Station #30 as well, it's tucked in behind the ambulance in the middle bay.. Probably just being used for training right now, but it should be going to Engine 30 after

They only New Smeal Engines that have gone into service were Engine 47 & 48. But they are back to running there old rigs

I don't know what the issue is with the Engines, but I hope they start rolling them out soon.

CFD changed there minds at the last minute before the first trucks went into production.. they wanted a 2-stage pump instead of the single stage pump so that's why there taking so long to get to the city

Over the last few weeks I have seen some of the new trucks heading North of the city on Hwy #2. They were obviously being delivered for dealer preparation as they all had the company information in the windows, and were missing the LDH connections.

MRU 1 has been replaced with a brand new 2016 Chevy Tahoe
I don't like the decals on it.. it's a few stickers slapped on and that's it. Calgary in general is not really decaling the fleets anymore; it is a money thing and I do understand it, but I mean its the Calgary Fire Department were talking about here!!

Is it a suburban (same but longer body) by chance? Saw one take off from the station there today

Probably a temporary replacement vehicle for MRU 1. Their regular unit is being used at the Stampede Grounds starting tonight. (monitoring C15).

I'm pretty sure this is a brand new unit. I will hopefully be able to get pictures of it in a day or two.

Here is a picture of one of the new Smeal's at Station #6 Downtown today (E0616)

Here is the new MRU 1. The fleet number on it is MR0216 - there is another one sitting at the shops right now

A little delayed but noticed Station 32 was running two Engines this past weekend. One of them was tagged as a rescue. It was like Déjà vu when they passed me other than the Blue placard vs a red placard to distinguish the unit type.

Sorry I've been away for a while.. CFD has started to press some of the 2016 Smeal's into service, from what I have seen Engines: 1,2,5,10 and 16 have new Smeal's. It did look like CFD was running some of the new Smeal's as Spare engines for a few weeks there...

- Hazmat 26 has moved to Station 37
- Decon 26 went to the training grounds for awhile and is now at Station 30
- Hazmat Recovery 11 is now at Station 35, I believe Tender 35 cross staffs the recovery truck
- Tender 25 cross staffs the Bronto (which has been out of service for quite some time yet again) Right now Tender 25 is cross staffing the spare Pierce 105' Quint

With the latest class of 18 Firefighter recruits I hope there will be at least another Aerial added to the fleet... (Engine 27 or 39 becoming an Aerial) but time will tell.
Also there is a new MRU unit floating around somewhere (MR0216) it could replace the MRU at station 12.. but it could get put in Station 22, as they run the third most medical calls in the city
Oh and CFD has fixed MRU 1 with a paint/sicker/decal job.. I don't have a good picture of it, but now it looks gorgeous!!!!

Still only 2 mru's..someone had mentioned another seen..Only have the budget for mru01 and mru12 but as opposed to being on a 2 year evaluate and see, they have been approved as part of the fleet.
