Can someone explain how this works to me...

I've been looking at FCC licenses for the sites and have noticed that the Chattanooga site (2-010) has the license of WQKJ941. What I don't understand is why it has the channels listed at 4 FX1 locations?

The same for NW GA (2-011) - WQKU453, it has it's channels listed at 3 FX1 locations?

Using PRO-106 while traveling through to Atlanta I noticed that I could pick up Chattanooga better on the site/frequencies labeled for Chattanooga than on the TRS for TVRS. The northern GA sites for TVRS were good. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Question: I saw that 1339 was listed as "Lifeforce 1" in the databawe. When I get a call on it they state that it is "Lifeforce Ops". I also get Lifeforce on 1341. Any idea of what this Lifeforce ID is used for? They have talked to bothy Erlanger and Memorial on this ID!

They are testing their helo radios around the region, especially north Georgia where the new Life Force 4 will begin in the Fannin/Union County area this fall.
They are using 1389 on TVR system, which is 22224 on the analog system. That's the old Life Force ground talk group when Erlanger used to run ambulances. Maybe they're going to call it "ops" now?
The other group, 1391 on the TVR system, is the same as 22256 on analog which sounds like they are calling this "net." That used to be Life Force ground 2.
They're also still using the UHF freqs so we'll see how this all shakes out.

Walker County

Walker County finally switched to the P25 system on 09-12-2010. So far I can not find anyone who has the talk group ID's and the control frequencies for Fire/EMS. I have been monitoring Chattanooga and Catoosa in open bank trying to locate the talk group for Walker but there is just to much traffic to find it. Can someone help me please???

RE: Walker

You will find most talkgroups listed in the data base on this site. Look under Georgia, Walker County and at bottom of page you will find trunked systems for the county and click on Tennessee Valley Regional system. Depending on where you are in Walker, you'll want to monitor either the Chattanooga simulcast, or the NW Georgia simulcast. If you are deep in the Cove or on southern Lookout Mnt. you'll want to program the Canyon Ridge site. Walker Fire/EMS is dispatching on group 13509. LaFayette, Rossville, Lookout Mnt and Chickamauga PD's are dispatching on WCSO Tac-3.

I can pickup Chattanooga, Catoosa, FT.Ogelthorpe But I can not receive any Walker. I am using a pro 95 which I know is old do you think I will have to upgrade to hear them and if so which scanner do you recommend? Thank you for the rapid reply

If Walker County switched to P25, then the Pro 95 will not allow you to monitor them. Time to upgrade.
Personally I like the Uniden 396XT handheld or 996XT Base/Mobile, others will have different opinions.

Walker County

O.K. I still need help.... I have upgraded my scanner to the pro106 and have entered all the frequencies for the 2-010 Chattanooga site and entered 13500 - 13510 talk groups for Walker county. I also entered all frequencies for 2-011 N.W.GA site and used the wildcard option and still nothing. I did program in different banks Chattanooga PD, Fire, Catoosa PD and Fire and they work fine. I am not sure what I am doing wrong for Walker County but if anyone can help me it would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I hardly get any traffic on the Walker Co TGID's yet either. I don't believe it the radio, I think they are just not that active on the system yet, but I could be wrong! 73's

I don't know if Walker has fully switched over yet either, however, I do hear more and more traffic everyday. They were fairly active last night around midnight. If you are picking up the rest, you should be getting Walker. I have only heard Walker S.O. No Fire or EMS, and I don't monitor the conventional freqs.

Have you tried the TVRS frequencies? They appear to be different from the Chatt system?

The way I understand it the system is "localized" i.e. you do not hear every TG in the system but you would hear one in another region if one of their radios is active there.

Just a thought. Complex and unique system but fun to monitor on my trips through the area.
