Sounds like Norfolk Fire bought some CLMRN affiliated radios, they were being used by a chief and an engine yesterday, and "radio service" today, all on the 8701 TG. 98xxxx

those channels were unencrypted since i started monitoring the CSP around 2016 when i used to go thru CT on I-95 to visit friends in MA every few weeks. They were a good source of traffic info, not very active but when they were it was a good indicator of road problems. The few pursuits i monitored were mostly on the Troop channels, & once I heard a DWI pursuit going the wrong way on I-95 [south in the NB lanes about 20 mi aom so i decided it was time for a coffee break & exited.] My friends moved in 2020. I still have the system in my car & boat radios, I can copy the south shore troops no problem on the NS. When im fishing on LI Sound i give an occasional listen to the system, mostly to see if the CT State Encon guys are doing anything.

NX radios are not allowed on the system anymore, also the 5800 is UHF so it wouldnt work on an 800mhz system anyway
My apologies, I meant the 5900. They aren't allowed but could still receive right?

You COULD but i wouldn't even bother because you need to have permission to be on the system, They wont let just anyone on the system. I recommend getting a BCD996p2, or a SDS 100- SDS 200.

no, it is not legal to program a trunked system into a radio without authorization. It is a computer crime.
it requires a system key, which is either given by the administrator, or illegal.
If you are trying to scan, buy a scanner,

Don’t need a system key on Harris xg100 radios
