Hello all,

I have using DSDPlus FastLane to do single radio trunking for the past week, and thanks to the help of some of you in another thread I have posted I have been able to pick up a pretty good signal from my local SIRN, and have been enjoying it greatly. I have been looking around and cant seem to find any information on working with the various error codes that scroll by ERR1 <-through-> ERR23? and what things like TSDU stand for etc.

err1.png

Im assuming the TSDU is something common with the system, or trunking in general? so on that maybe some of you have some study suggestions for me?

For the error codes I was expecting to find something on the DSD site regarding what each individual error code corresponds to, but have not had any luck. If anyone can point me in the right direction on this i would be great full.

Thanks Again!

Ok, Improving the signal, I'm working on that one, As for improving the decoding chain, how does one get started down that path?

With a good aerial setup. You will be wasting your time without it.

What band are you monitoring? Collinear aerials are pretty good choice. For greater distance, a directional high gain aerial can be deployed. Yagi's and similar.

Also use low-loss coax. The 1/2 inch stuff, especially the higher up in frequency you go.

Remember for aerials, "Height equals might"...

He's listening (in his example above) to WVSIRN Site - https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=4076

That would be a 400/450 mhz system.

Terra Alta is a blow torch. But I have no idea how close he is to it. If he is using an RTL dongle, he will need to make sure he does the PPM adjustment unless he is using one of the RTLs with a 0.5 ppm TCXO. Then, he should be making sure he sets hi witdth in FMP24 to 9.5. And of course he'll need to adjust the gain to peak the signal but not overload the dongle. Lots of people just crank it to 11 ( turn it up to 49 or whatever) and that is no good.

he didn't mention, but i wonder if he is using SDR software and DSDPlus or if he is using FMP24 + DSDPlus.

Thanks for the detailed replies, I will be working on a aerial coco here next week after we move, I am using a rtl sdr v3 i believe. I have my ppm adjusted to roughly ~ -2ppm as per the calibration i have done a few times in hdsdr. using the WVSIRN as a reference point. my gain settings now that i have the lna in are usually no higher then 14 and more generaly around 8.

were really close, just up the mountain from 101.9fm here in morgantown so ive got a fm bandpass filter in line which is helping greatly. I am still experiencing some pretty nasty interference all over the bands, and most noticibly in the <1Ghz band where its screaming in the waterfall lol. Im certain we've got a fair amount of electrical interference from the almost exclusive lack of grounded outlets, and that I am currently set up in my kitchen sharing the same circuit as all my network equipment, server rack, refrigerator, microwave, and airconditioner unit lol.

Also i am running on a single rtl using fmp24, and the 1r radio batch file. I will be upgrading this week to a second rtlsdr after the move.
