I drove thru Calhoun Franklin Gulf Liberty (FL) counties didn't see anything on the P25 side. I did see 1 TG on the analog system (Tallahassee).

random neuron firings here... but.

we have a "new" control channel up on 860.3875 and one on 857.3875 -- monitored in east central florida.

neither DSD+ nor Unitrunker will decode these CCs. Suspect they are in "test pattern" mode or (??)

just keeping an eye on them for now -

btw - a good start on the Duke Energy Florida licenses are:

WRJI625
WRJH815
WRHZ715

note, I had to search XXX.XXXX MHz in >>NORTH CAROLINA<< (Duke HQ) because the FCC website won't let you drill down and search via the transmitter location. All of those licenses above have florida locations in them and they are relatively current (~1 year old)

also worth noting that these are (from my quick look) -- all 800Mhz licenses for Florida... not 900.

I went to the counties I travel thru and found 800 a month ago I added the 900 to see any digital pops up when I go thru certain areas. I'll find out next month see if anything pops up on 800/900 for digital side.

The PDF in this post has all of the call signs, frequencies and locations for each site that should be broadcasting a 'test' signal.

The system will be fully 800 MHz and will consist of a zone for each geographic area that will all be tied together for systemwide roaming.

How long do 'test' signals normally last, before a site becomes functional. A couple sites that I can receive has had test signals on them for upwards of 6 months or so.

The actual answer is, and not being a smart azz, "Until they are ready to take the site/zone/region live." I have seen systems like the Entergy conversion to P25 have sites testing for only a week or two, and other sites in that same "zone" bee testing for months, then the whole section went live. I have seen sections on the VIPER, and SAFE-T P25 conversions that took only a couple of months, and other parts of those same systems need to be shut off and redone due to connectivity issues, then back to testing for a while before going live.

I believe they are still in the build out stage of the microwave back haul system so until that is all connected they will likely run a 'test' signal on the P25 sites as they come online.

They requested an extended build for this system and part of that is showing that they are making progress, these 'test' signals are showing the progress.

This will be a multi-state interconnected network so I recommend dropping Florida from the name on the P25 system in the database.

i really was on the fence with this one and made the name reflective of the current Duke analog system; but I'm always open to ideas. I'll edit the Florida out of the name.

So this whole TDMA control channel thing, does that mean they can run separate different control channels on the same RF frequency?

It means the CC can also have a voice slot on the same frequency as the CC. Not two CC's on the same site/frequency. Think like Trunked DMR CC's only P25 instead. (2 slots)

Understood. I do find a lot of P25 systems seem to have gobs of excess capacity (too many frequencies) for how much activity on average.

Being pretty close to the low level stuff and looking at earlier documentation, I will say the new control channels could also easily support 2 separate voice channels simultaneously on the control channel frequency in addition to the new control channel bursts. To answer your question, it does not look like multiple control channels. It looks like some new information (control channel) added to the TDMA channels that have been there from the beginning. The new information is handling the job that has been previously done by phase1 control channels only.
