Hi all; just got back from mother duties in NJ, and hai_akeeba had this to say about 155.49, which evidently is not a fireboards frequency (this was echoed in Phillyscanner, by the way)...
==================
155.49 is one of the frequencies that were used by New Castle County
Police. It was their F-3 channel. The callsign KNAU is licensed to New
Castle County(Govt.). When the PD went to the State 800 system they
surrendered it to county operations. Under the same license 156.165 (PD
F-1) was also surrendered to county operations. Both frequencies are
very active during the daylight hours, some activity at night with
emergency sewer crews. KNAU522 another county license for frequency 155.115 (PD F-3) is still active, rebroadcasting N-DATA-C from the 800 system.. 158.805 (PD F-6) still licensed has been given to the Ashbourne
Hills (Claymont) civic association along with a number of the old police
GE handi-talkies. When skip is running Cape May PD can be heard here in
Delaware on the old F-5 frequency. It is possible that he heard
the CW due to skip and a lack of activity from the county services.

That was just about the conclusion I came to in my above message, i.e., the KNAU536 callsign is simply New Castle County's claim to the freq with no activity otherwise. The EMS traffic belongs to lower township, Cape May County NJ which is on the same freq.

I'm not quite sure what he means by N-DATA-C traffic on 155.115 in New Castle County since I have no idea what that means. What I hear are normal old voice police comms on a regular basis on that freq from New Castle.

Al, The N-DATA-C reference points to a simulcast of the Newcastle County PD data talkgroup (used for running tags, etc). I'm honestly not sure why that particular TG, as opposed to the main County Dispatch TG, was selected for simulcasting. Perhaps some small police entities without 800 digital access use it to get through for computer checks? When over that way, I exclusively monitor the 800 system, so I can't comment on whether this is a full-time patch.

Thanks Dave. I guess N-DATA-C is more technologically impressive than saying it's a TELETYPE channel, which is decades old police jargon. Although I certainly hear lots of license/registration checks, I've also heard surveillance and, although only once, a car chase taking place on that channel. It's one of those freqs, much like the Chester Fire department that comes through even when tropospheric conditions do not warrant it doing so. Certain freqs seem to just find a "channel" from there to here even when it doesn't make sense - as happens in almost every location and in everyone's scanner no matter where they live.

As far as I know the 460.625 in Milford is a fulltime simulcast. I have a hard time picking it up in Maryland but it can be heard in about a 15 mile radius from Milford.

N-DATA-C( N=North, DATA= self explanatory, C=County) is the radio display of the 800 radios, as opposed to N-DATA (Delaware State Police. 155.115 is re-broadcasting full time. The County services (sewer, parks, etc. are not on the 800 system. With the implementation of 800mhz the county demanded that 156.165 and 155.49 be relimquished due to overcrowding on their low band frequencies. During "hot" incidents that require constant dispatcher monitoring, Data is suspended on the talkgroup and chases, searches, etc. are conducted on this channel. Why they chose to transmit DATA and not disp. 1 is anyone's guess. I believe it was a hold-over from the early days when all channels were simulcast from the 800 until 800 radios were completely installed, and the older frequencies surrendered. Check the RR Database for Delaware and you will see the designation -C

Carlisle's repeater

Hello to all,

I surfed on in and found that some great frequencies. I was looking at the post and the was some discussion above on Carlisle's repeater. I used to work for them and I can tell you that the repeater is located at the station and the tower is about 100' tall. The repeater is rather old and it simulcasts the 800 from the main station radio. Not all of the sussex talk groups that are in the 800 radio are set up to scan. The reapeater is fairly low power but does have decent coverage. I can't recall the exact set up for the scan but it monitors the main groups. Sussex county is set up differently than kent as far as talk groups, the eastern portion of the county uses one group I can't remember which and the western portion uses another. Milford's 800 also scans dover fire. Most if not all of the companies do not include thier company channel in the scan (my company did until I went in and change it).

I would be glad to offer any other info I could help with, I worked as an EMT for 4 years in kent county and volunteered in kent with frederica (i'm still a member just not active). Feel free to email me or post here with any questions.

Very good Adam. Please feel free to scan that page and let me know about any corrections or additions. I appreciate the info about Carlisle's repeater; heck 100 foot tower in an area that's relatvely flat anyway is like a mountain; it's no wonder it's got good coverage.

I have better luck receiving Kent County on 154.445 (Dover) and 157.45 (Farmington) as opposed to 460.625 in Milford. The VHF signals seem to propogate farther than the UHF ones. On another note where and who simulcasts Kent County fire/ems ops on 33.78? I know New Castle County still uses this frequency for dispatch.

There are no stations in Kent or Sussex Cos. that are using 33.78. Harrington VFD had been using this frequency. They stopped using it about a month ago and are now using 155.505. They are repeating most of 800 in this area. I have heard this as far north as Smyrna and as far south as Rehoboth Beach. They also have a input for local use that is also repeated on this freq.
Have a good weekend.

Dave, is there a PL or DCS on that 155.505 Harrington freq? I can get that freq fixed pronto on the page. And a dumb question - Harrington is in Kent county?

Thats great to know about 155.505. I'll plug it in and see if I can hear it. Do you know what their configuration is on the radio repeater setup? Do they use a "Repeater Maker" box and cross repeat their Motorola base station into a VHF radio? Just curious.

Dave, funny you should mention 155.505. A couple of us in Maryland have been trying to identify a fairly new signal we're hearing on that freq. I got a DPL of 115 on what I'm hearing. Does that match with what you see for Harrington?

Sorry to be so late in responding to the questions about Harrington DE 155.505 I was at a County Fire meeting and everybody got long winded tonight. Harrington Is not using any pl or dcs as far as I know. I have picked them up on every scanner I have, including an old Crystal scanner. And yes Mike, Harrington is in Kent County. The home of the Delaware State Fair and Midway Slots. I dont know what they are using for their equipment but it cost more than 10 grand including the portables which use 159.33 to talk to the base on 155.505
If I can answer any other question post or e-mail

Thanx Dave. I see I already have Harrington on my page; all I need do is to drop the 33.78 listing for Kent and Sussex and I'm good to go.

I picked up a dpl of 155 last night using my Pro 96 for 155.505. The signal was pretty good in Hurlock with my attic antenna.

Hmm, could they have both a PL of 136.5 and a DCS on the same freq? That might tend to suggest 2 different users. And what is '115 DC'??

Confused :?:

DC is my pro 96 indication of DPL as Tolly confirmed in a previous post. As to why both I dont have any answer except that it might have something to do with the fact that they have a short range hand held pager & talk back system which inputs on 159.33 to the 155.505 freq repeater. They can also page individual units using the 155.505 and their own tone setup. I dont know the installer but Ill try to find out.

tolley, thanks very much for confirming that 115DPL. I thought it may be Harrington but had about given up on it after someone above said there was no PL/DPL. You solved a mystery.
