New York City and Miami Beach. I monitor almost exclusively public safety and law enforcement with some federal and marine. I'm more up to speed on New York Metro comms but getting there on the Miami area. Sort of like Mel, but without my own garage. Go mel.

I'm on Jacksonville's west side. I just recently got back into the hobby after 10 years or so. My RS Pro-26 and Pro-2006 don't cut it for this area's trunked digital systems, so I'm still getting settling in with my brand new BCD396T. I primarily monitor JFRD and lately, given the persistent TS Fay, JEA has had plenty of traffic to listen to. I'm also a Navy aircrewman, so I naturally monitor milair as well. I would like to listen in on JSO, but it seems they've gone encrypted.

Welcome !!!

Welcome aboard Steve,
If you haven't alrteady, take a look at the data base. You'll find a very good listing of most of the freq's in the Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Escambia County/ Pensacola areas. I live in Holly and monitor Santa Rosa and Escambia Counties with good results. I'm also able to pull Whitting Field , Eglin and Hurlburt Mil Air with good success. My Okaloosa/ Ft Walton reception isn't the greatest ...
Best of Luck,
Ray

greetings friends from Central Florida

My name is Kevin, I am over here in Ocala, the city of Ocala, part of Marion County. I enjoy monitoring the Ocala Police Department, the Ocala Fire & Rescue, and with the enhanced discone antenna I currently use, I am pleased to announce that I am able to receive all of the surrounding counties to where I live. I am picking up Lake county, LEESBURG, Sumpter county, some GAINESVILLE, and some Volushia county radio traffic. I moved to Ocala 10 years ago. I am formerly from Oceanside, Long Island NY, NASSAU COUNTY, and was a firefighter there for over 16 years. I monitored FDNY, NYPD, NYC-EMS, local Nassau county PD and all local fire department traffic.

All in all, I am a scanner buff, and truly enjoy scanning FLORIDA.

current monitoring equipment:
REALISTIC PRO-2006 (MODIFIED) wired to an outdoor Motorola whip antenna
UNIDEN UBC3300XLT (W/ARC250 Software) wired to a modified discone
PRO-89 RACE SCANNER with a rubber ducky "stub"
PRO-2038 SCANNER wired to a portable outdoor antenna
OPTO-ELECTRONICS 1300H FREQ COUNTER
ELENCO F-2875 FREQ COUNTER

current toys include: an old dos laptop w/ some old software
MOTOROLA SPECTRA VHF
MOTOROLA SPECTRA UHF
MOTOROLA SYNTOR X W/ A9 HEAD
MOTOROLA MAXTRAC 300 VHF
and a Cobra 29 nw st CB Radio

Never had a scanner. Just ordered one from scannermaster, a BC-15 (they are loading the freq for me. Wakulla Co and Leon Co.). I should be getting it sometime next week. I guess I will be monitoring Wakulla Co (about 25 mi South of Tallahassee).

Greetings and welcome, you have made a wise purchase by selecting the BC-15 scanner to monitor Wakulla area frequencies. The BC-15 will scan Motorola NON APCO-25 trunked systems, but thats ok , as Wakulla does not have much going on currently in the field of APCO-25 systems. Best choice might be to get yourself an outdoor discone antenna, and raise it up as far as you can go... safely. That receiver has great reception, and you will surely pick up far away frequencies. Happy scanning!!

Hello everyone, I'm Ryan from Tampa. I am a news stringer and recently got a job as a dispatcher/ call taker trainee for a nearby LEO agency.

I own a BC246T, BC60XLT, and BC210 (Older than dirt). I plan on purchasing another scanner in the next month or so. Probably one of the newer Uniden models.

I scan law enforcement and fire departments in Hillsborough County, City of Tampa, Pasco County, Pinellas County, City of Clearwater, and local media.

I can't tell you how much I love this site!

also own a beartracker bct7, an ancient 350, and an ar8200 mark IIB, that I use when traveling.
listen to melsgarage a lot, as I am originally from brooklyn. when up there, i use my vx 7r for best results, as it is small and unobtrusive.

Hello

HELLO Alan from Crawfordville FL = Wakulla County

I've owned many scanners over the years but have a RS PRO-83, RS PRO 94 and have a new RS PRO 96.
I listen to WCS, WFD, EMS and the surrounding counties.

Used to listen to FHP and FWC but if I'm reading right there is no way to listen to both of them anymore.

I would like to listen to Forestry Service and I have programmed the frequencies but I only hear the dispatch doing radio checks in the AM?????? any suggestions?

My name is Drew, I represent the Eastern Hillsborough County area between Tampa and Plant City. My brother works for the Plant City PD so I enjoy listening to what they have going on as well as Tampa and HCSO. I believe im just on the edge of picking up the Temple Terrace P25 system, but maybe I programmed it wrong. I am very new to this gig, and I just picked up a Pro-96 the other day to make life a little easier for me. My brother and I also have a modded Pro-94 with a ATCS Port in the side for listening and monitoring trains in the area. Anyway thats about it. I love the forums by the way.
