I'm a retired Miami Dade FF and when in Miami for the winter I monitor Miami Dade Fire and police.
The rest of the time I travel the USA in our Motor home so I try to listen in where ever I stay for a while.
It's very interesting to see how the other depts operate.

Hey from SRQ county....

Hello to all,
I am a newbie and an new owner of a PSR-500 scanner in North Port, FL. I have no idea what the heck I am doing, but I am still having fun! I am surely in need of a 'scanner for dummy's' booklet. Bye for now.

Hello from Delray Beach. I listen to Delray Beach, Boca Raton and Palm Beach County with a Pro-96. I've been listening to police and fire since my first Lafeyette Electronics FM tunable receiver back in the 1960's. With the great digital system in the cities and the great county system there is almost always something to listen to.
I'm also a ham and enjoy all of the local 2 meter and 70cm repeaters.

73 from Ed KE4BMR

P.S. I have a great local .p96 file if anyone visits this area.

I live in Orlando and I'm scanning now on my new RS Pro-433 I just got for Christmas. Been scanning since I was little, mostly in the Boston Area. Mainly listening to the Orange/Orlando trunked system, but I'm working on setting up a few other things.

Hey guys, new here.

I just bought a Uniden BCT15. Will be for mobile use in my car. I don't know a whole lot about scanners, or all the terms yet, but I am slowly learning.

2 things:

1. Best user name ever.

2. Get a P25 scanner...at least they're not encrypted.

Hey!

Probably the only norwegian guy in here, my family and I have a house in Cannon Creek airpark, Lake City.
While I'm over there, cutting the grass and building an airplane, I keep it simple with the Pro-97 and Pro-83.

I'm going over there 30. of March, might buy something new to play with in Norway ;P
Fortunately in Norway we don't have to worry about rebanding issues, although my local police does have the digital EDACS-stuff.
Their system is from 1994, and is being transferred over to the new, national emergencynet...which probably is something TETRA-related :/
Right after the police is transferred, EMS and fire will follow along.

Hello,
My name is Victor, I am head of security for Rosenberg Diamonds & Co. in Boca Raton, Fl.
We just purchased the BCD-396T handheld scanner and are looking for someone in the area to program it for us - we will pay of course. Need it done this weekend and would prefer to have someone local vs. sending it out to have it done.

Please contact me at my work below or @ southfloridapi at gmail.com if interested.

Thanks,

Victor Sakalauskas

I live in Panama City Beach, Florida. I just bought the Pro 433. I am also new to this site and forums.

I basically listen to Air, Marine, Police, Ham and Fire and so on. In other words everything. LOL.

I have done a lot of searching all over the net. I was amazed at how so little there is for scanner freq. info there is for Panama City, Panama City Beach and Bay County. Radio Shack no longer gives out local freq. at the store here on the beach or in town. So if anyone on here as any would appreciate any they have. Really would like the ambulance ones and hospitals. Please be patient and a little understanding as I have little knowledge of scanners and the jargon. I am learning and though I have had other scanners none have had the whistles and bells the Pro 433 has. So please forgive if i ask a bunch of stupid questions and my ignorance of the scanner world and freq and so on seems over abundant.

Look forward to coming here more often.

Terry

Welcome to the Florida Roll Call. It’s good to see someone from the Panama City/Bay County area. I live in Navarre and I have a hard time picking up the 800 system used in Bay County so it’s difficult for me to confirm the frequencies for that area unless there is some serious ducting going on. That area has a lot of untapped channels just waiting to get updated and published in that area. The Radio Reference database for that area is not in too bad of shape. I’m sure after a few weeks of scanning, you’ll be able to fine tune the listing and have a more defined listing of the local frequencies. The Pro-433 is a nice scanner. With an area that large, I would use a scanner that has Alpha Tags to make life simpler. Again, welcome to the group.

Thanks Dan!! The next scanner I want to get will have digital trunking and without a doubt it will have Alpha Tags to. I live close to the Navy base here on the beach and put up up an outside antenna so I do get a lot of action. Though without Alpha Tags it is hard to know who is talking though. I like being able to here Marine Freq.. Have heard some airplanes and of course with Spring Break going on the police keep the scanner hoping. I also have a Pro 2024 which my had when we got married and a BC 147XLT which I had when I worked up norht for the Iowa DOT but I never really got into scanners until now.

I'll check in here from Pasco County. I have a Pro2067 but can't get the Pasco system in here. Maybe an outside antenna will help but . . . a year and a half in Florida so far and no scanning. I might have to resort to listening to Tampa!

Been a ham 34 years and will be back on HF shortly. Life is good.

I seem to be the third one coming from Orlando. I live on the outskirts of Winter Park, so i listen to OCS, OCFD mostly, and some seminole county trunks like Sheriff and Fire, Cassleberry, and a little Altamonte when i visit friends a mile north of me. Have the orlando area malls programmed on conventional. BCT15 when i sleep and in my truck. BCT246T on my belt or bike when i go out. Lovin the life. Taking SO training at the S2 Institute. Awesome place, offers some great courses. If anyone likes arming themselves with florida statute knowlege it is a great course. Or you can just go online. :)
