Question

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I'm wondering if the new 700 mhz frequencies will be posted on radio reference?

I listen in Glassboro. The current Glassboro police and Rowan police channels went silent this week. I'm still hearing the Rowan security , ems and emergency call boxes on the currently published, older frequencies. I'm only guessing that these will be changed over and I'm hoping that they wont be encrypted, as they are not police.

Any comments are welcome. I hope that this get's posted correctly.

They are indeed in the RR DB already. You can find the frequencies at the following link.
Gloucester County Public Safety Trunking System, Gloucester County, New Jersey - Scanner Frequencies
Additional info can be found here.
Gloucester County (NJ) Public Safety Unknown Unconfirmed Talkgroups - The RadioReference Wiki

The system is still new & Talkgroups have not been Identified yet. EMS & Fire are supposedly not encrypted. I have not had the pleasure of being within range to hear any Fire/EMS traffic, Yet. Everything I have picked up was encrypted law enforcement. (Which can't be listened too)

You can also find the same info linked to on the bottom of the Gloucester County Page.

Only Rowan Police are switching to 700 MHz. Everything else is staying as it is for now. They might go with DMR for Security/EMS in the future, but not anytime soon.

Fire and EMS for the rest of the county haven't switched over yet, just Law Enforcement so far. They are expected to make the conversion by the end of March (expected is the key word here) and will be in the clear.

Gloucester County 700 mhz p25 phase 2

From Uniden, I purchased the HomePatrol1 and could not receive Monroe
Twp police. Then I purchased HP2 still no luck. Question is: Will I ever hear
my township police again ?

According to RadioRef. the frequency for Monroe Twp Gloucester County is 453.3625
I monitor... nothing heard.

The frequency you mention is their old channel. Monroe Twp police have switched to the new P25 Phase II system. All police channels on the new system are encrypted so you will not be able to listen to Monroe police or any police in Gloucester County. Fire and EMS is all you will be able to listen too.

Are there any scanners out there that scan 700mhz ??

If you have the HP-2 as stated above then you already have a scanner capable of monitoring the new 700 MHz system. You just can't listen to the police channels due to the encryption. When the fire and ems services migrate over to this new system they will not be using encryption. For now you can still monitor fire and ems on their conventional channels.

Thanks for the information. DMR? Is that the 700 MHz digital? Excuse me, I'm new to this. I am hearing the Rowan Security and EMS now. I'm wondering what will be done with all of the old frequencies as they switch over the police frequencies?

Last summer, when power was lost in Gloucester County due to that storm, there were a lot of frequencies used. Lots of sound, mostly reporting downed trees and lines. I think that the scanner has some value. I've been listening since the 1980's

Jelico, to try and answer your question dmr is another digital format ( not P25) that no current SCANNER can monitor in trunking form. There are SDR modules that can decode this and the AOR Scanner can decode it in conventional form. During a major event such as severe weather, you will likely for now hear some of your township talkaround channels. There may be an Interops channel set up eventually on the 700 system so that PD and FD can hear each other. In Camco these were activated during the storm for that purpose. What twp are you in?

I'm in Glassboro. I've listened mostly to Rowan and GPD. The GPD and Rowan police are silent, so I'm sure they went over to the new frequencies. There's no use in buying a new scanner for those if they are encrypted. I'm hearing Rowan security and ems as well as some maintenance and other frequencies for Rowan. My radios don't pick up much farther than town. Sometimes I've heard Pitman. I get the county fire dispatch. If Rowan is going over to this DMR format some day, as Fireham said, then I might still loose my listening. If there is other hardware to continue listening in that event, I'm sure I'd invest in it.
Thank you for your response!

FYI

This system will go live on Monday, February 22nd at 0600hrs. All resources and services currently on the 500mhz conventional system will switch over at this time.

Dispatching will still be transmitted on 154.130.
