FYI

This system will go live on Monday, February 22nd at 0600hrs. All resources and services currently on the 500mhz conventional system will switch over at this time.

Dispatching will still be transmitted on 154.130.

Do you mean Gloucester County or Rowan University? Some one here posted that Rowan security and ems will remain on the original frequencies for the time being. Thanks for the update.

I have no knowledge concerning Rowan University Security and or EMS. I can confirm that Rowan Police have switch over to the encrypted talk groups on the new system.

Thanks for the response.

If the non law enforcement frequencies are not encrypted I'm going to get a radio shack 668 or some other radio that will pick up 700 MHz.

The Radio Shack Pro-668 will do the trick for the new system. Personally I have been leaning toe ward the Bearcat BCD436HP or the BCD536HP. The only reason is because Uniden has been around a long time. The original supplier to the digital line of scanners at RS, Grecom, sold their digital scanner design and manufacturing rights to Whister. Radio Shack as a company is on very shaky ground and Whister has no track record in the industry. Basically Whister could disappear tomorrow leaving no firmware support whereas Uniden has been in the game and will continue to be for their long haul to provide support for their products.

Hey quick question I'm in Cinnaminson and can hear nothing on the Camden County system. Would I have to be in Camden County or Gloucester County to be able to hear it? I'll leave it on all day and nothing.

You should be able to hear the Camden county system from Cinnaminson. There is a tower site right in Pennsauken. I can't hear the Gloucester County system at all from Medford and likely the same from your area. Its seems to me the Gloucester county system is more localized and doesn't reach out to far beyond the county. At least when using a scanner to monitor.

Monoxide16 , it could be the LSM affecting the signal. Unless you are very close to a transmitter scanners don't work really well with simulcast.

Sweet. I'm glad they are pushing back the date. I really thought after the Chief's Association meeting last week that the county was dead set on Monday. I have noticed there is ton of radio equipment that I suspect has been issued but has never logged into the system. I have seen 15 portables from Deptford that have logged in and 6 mobiles. Those numbers seem a little on the light side to me considering the size of the township.

So far I have seen 1766 unique ID's on the control channel. Is anybody else playing with Unitrunker?

zolzar, were you at the Chiefs meeting? And if so, was the police encryption issue brought up?

I didn't go to the meeting. Actually haven't attended in a few years. I spoke with a few people who were at the meeting. I haven't heard any talk about the police encryption. If hear anything I'll post something. Honestly though, encryption is probably not going away.

Maybe theres an error in your programming? What scanner are you using anyway? And a very important question...are you within line of sight to a cell tower? Those things kill 700/800mhz reception.

I'm inexperienced with trunking systems for scanner programming, but I'm curious how long will it take when the new GC Fire/EMS 700mhz system goes live (Tentatively Feb 29th), roughly how long till the scanner programming is up for download? i.e.: Fire 1/2/3/4/5, Fire TAC, EMS 1/2 etc. I have the Home Patrol-2 and know that its as simple as updating the database via Sentinel with RadioReference.

Yes I have been but time is limited from my work location in Gloucester county. Cannot get a lock on the CC from Burlington county where I live.

Medford is too far northeast to receive anything on Gloucester County. There are portions of Evesham, Mount Laurel and Maple shade where it is possible to get a hit off the Blackwood or Westville tower.

Everything is good with the programing and I'm using the pro 668 and I hear ya about the cell tower and don't see any of the cell towers close to me. And I'm not really liking the set up with the pro 668.

It depends on how long until someone has time to take a thorough scan of the system and identify the talk groups based on observed traffic and/or inside information. Several people on this thread have access to a certain amount of information through various sources but aggregating it can be time consuming. I'd give it a week or two after the system goes live.
