• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey all,
First off, I currently have a Motorola HT1250LS+ that is fully functionable with TX'ing and communication with Motorola CPS. The current version of my CPS is R06.04.00. Now i have a second portable, the same exact one. Though this one was pre-programmed as i got it from a online group on Facebook. Once i connect the radio to CPS with the correct ComPorts, yes ive checked the setting for the correct one. Im using the usb, it works fine with my other portable with no problems. I keep getting an error where when i try to connect after selecting the port, i get the following:
"Unsupported Model" then "Application does not support this file"

No idea why this is happening if they're the same. is there anyway to fix this issue?

The most likely cause of your issue is the relative age of your CPS. R06.12.09 is the most current. By comparison, your R06.4.00 could be called ancient.

It is very likely that your new (to you) radio is programmed with a much newer version of the CPS and has a more current version of the firmware. Your older CPS won't be able to read the radio.

The solution that you will need to try first is to get a much more current version of the CPS and see if that will read the radio. Newer versions of the CPS can sometimes read radios programmed with an even higher revision so you'll need to try to write to the radio to be sure the CPS is all set.

For future reference, this is one of those lesser known issues that come with purchasing a used radio. The buyer needs to know what revision of the CPS the unit was last programmed with before making the purchase. If the buyer's CPS is too old for what's in the radio, the purchase no longer becomes a bargain.

There are several stickies at the top of this sub-forum regarding acquiring Motorola software. The only way to acquire the new version of the CPS is to purchase it from Motorola Online. Current price is $265. The "how's" of doing that have been discussed many times over here in the Motorola sub-forum. You can use the search function to find the relevant threads.
